wu-tang forever was the start of their ending.

the 2nd disc is a frisbee.

:wtf: that's overboard the bad songs are bad but the best songs on that 2nd disc are some of the best on the album.

Ok, so I've been going through this thread and here are my thoughts:

I'm gonna keep it focused on the music, because if I factor in impact, then it's less of an argument.

Musically 36 Chambers is a better album for a few reasons, I am a huge fan of E. 1999 and Creepin, though out in the East Coast, Creepin was not even a blip on the radar here. It is what it is. E. 1999 was def on some other shyt and was well loved out here in NJ/NY to this day. I going to say that it's a push, while Bone Thugs burned brighter, Wu-Tang burned longer. On a side note the original Crossroads is one of my favorite tracks from them. I will say this Bones definitely brought in a different brand of hip-hop and was definitive midwest stuff.

Now here's where the opinions begin to diverge.

Art of War vs Wu-Tang Forever

Neither album is a classic, both albums were bloated, that being said I think Art of War flowed better as an album, though aside from a few tracks, I can't remember most of them from Adam, this is because the production is so-so at best but the Bones are still strong spittas so they kinda carry it along. Now in the case WuTang forever the bad songs are awful but each disk had 5 or 6 very good songs and if you cut the crap out of it you get an album thats as good as 36 chambers maybe even better since RZA had evolved as a producer. I'm giving the Edge tio Wu-Tang forever because the album had quite a few songs that approached brilliance especially with the contributions of ODB, Method Man and GZA.

BTNH Ressurection vs The W

It's a push, both albums are great to listen to and knock to this day, I actually think Bizzy's contributions to this album are my favorite he really was on a troll with that sing songy style of his. As for the W, RZA brings it back to the basics production wise and the stripped down sound really works.

Thug World Order vs Iron Flag

Thug World Order is my least favorite Bones albums, you can tell the group had static and was kinda phoning it in. The track with Phil Collins gets joked about but I think it's actually a very good song and it bothers me they were mocked for trying to stretch out artistically a little. Iron Flag is actually similar in theme to the W but I thinks its a better album. There were few weak tracks and Pinky Ring is arguably a top 10 maybe even top 5 Wu song. There's def more of a pop element to this album as opposed to the previous albums but they were versatile enough to pull it off. Edge to Wu Tang.

THUG Stories

I may need to revisit this album, I don't remember much about it but I thought it was a solid if unspectacular listen.

Strength and Loyalty vs 8 Diagrams

No disrespect to Bone Thugs but if they never made another album after this, I'd be ok with that. Album is flames and almost feels like a swan song. This album low key is their best produced album is full of guest stars but never loses that feel of a Bones album. I play it on the way work every now and again. And if anything should be in your rotation. Now as for Wu-Tang 8 Diagrams is a divisive album, most Wu purists hate it thinking the album was a little pretentious. I liked it because it felt like RZA was doing what he felt instead of clinging to the past, but it felt hollow lyrically, again Method Man, Ghost and Raekwon are the stars despite openly not liking the production. It's an album I think people would like more if they werent obsessed with going back to 1994. Strength and Loyalty wins.

UNI5: The World's Enemy

It was Meh compared to the previous work. I wasn't crazy about it.

So I would say their discogs are pretty close if anything. I may have to give Bone Thugs a slight nod from a consistency standpoint though in defense of the Wu-Tang, that main crew is anywhere from 7-9 deep depending on the album and 36 Chambers was lighting in a bottle, there was no way they could recapture that magic twice, even less so with the passing of ODB.

Normally, I would have just given the :childplease:when seeing something like this. Watching "Unsung" last night, now it's more like :ohhh:made me remember about Bone's impact.

My personal taste leans more towards Wu-Tang, but Bone definitely did their thing.

the 2nd disc had like 3 joints and an interlude. its a frisbee.

as for the bolded, yall keep saying this but yall dont even attempt to back those words up..........why? because reality says otherwise.

and its not about nj/ny. its about the entire map. not just 3 or 4 states where they have the home-field advantage.

Bone has the most relevant recent single. I tried. I'd say two most relevant because Home was buzzing as well.

Like I said before I'm going purely based off the music, Art of War is very meh compared to Eternal and even their later work, Even of Wu-Tang forever with all its faults houses some of the groups best work I can't say that with Art of War, if I wanted to consider impact and put that into the equation then I would swing considerably into Wu-Tangs favor.

The Mecca of HipHop
Was bumping both Wu and Bone Thugs. Now if I had to choose the group who most influenced me growing up more it would be Wu. Me and my crew used to bump E. 1999 heavy. Bone Thugs definitely made an impact but Wu made more of one as a group and as solo artists securing a label deals with each member.

Bone Thugs can :camby:

Lets keep it funky, DJ U-Neek propelled them nikkas to their status in hiphop...strip them beats and you got some barbershop quartet ass nikkas singing about absolutely nothing

You could use the same argument and say Wu would be nothing without RZA right? :mjpls:

Bone were never as big

some of you keep saying that wu was bigger and had more impact but yall are doing a terrible job at backing those words up. meanwhile, bone voters are backing their words up with ease.

what does that tell you?
