your one of the most east coast biased cats in here though, you do know your hip hop but sometimes u say some outlandish shyt like your previous post.

ob4cl2 isnt nowhere close to being comparable to E-99 its not even close and u know that :comeon:

I'm not in a position to judge E 1999 - but people need to stop acting like OBFCL2 isn't an elite album.

Of course it is. What else would be? Here are the noteworthy albums that year be thy good or bad:

Mos Def
BP3
Relapse
Kid Cudi
Deeper Than Rap (my guess is this'll be the one they choose)
Doom - Born Like This
Jadakiss
A poorly received Clipse album
Ghostface's R&B album
Poet & Preemo
Krs & Buckshot
Skyzoo

A gang of other dope underground stuff.

HOLD UP HOLD UP!!!! you wanna talk 2009? lets talk about raekwon doing a joint with justin bieber and sounding desperate for an eminem collabo. and the bieber chit really hits low because this is the same dude that was always poking his chest out talking bout "real hip-hop this. real hip-hop that."

now as for the rest of this, come one man. dude just explained it to you. wutang doesnt have more pop culture appeal because they have more hardcore fans. they have more appeal because they branded themselves greatly with a machine behind them and like dude said, the people that are currently providing exposure for them are white people that grew up on that backpack chit. the jimmy fallons, the dude that put ghostface in ironman, dave chappelle is a well-known backpacker. you think chappelle is going to do skits with compton's most wanted? hell no, but mos def is always in the cut.

doing a song with phil collins isnt neccessarily a crossover attempt. hes not really a white artist all like that. hes moreso a color-less artist. at least the stuff that i know him and genesis for. gwen stefani tries to straddle the colorless line. she at least had a couple colorless hits. will-i-am was their labelmate on ruthless back in the day. you may be right about fleetwood mac. i wouldnt know. i dont know chit about them.

That's what happens when you're a legend though, you get requests for collabs that seem out of left field. Kanye wants Rae on a track with Bieber doing the hook? You gotta show love when people show love to you. As long as you don't compromise your integrity. And the Kanye track was a tribute to the Wu anyhow. It's like not showing up to pick up your lifetime achievement award.

Bone gets the same chit. The track with Chamillionaire. Freddy Gibbs just reached out.

Dave Chappelle ain't white.

All this talk of Jimmy Fallon makes me have a lot of respect for him. Didn't realize he was such a fan of quality hip hop.

So the Wu is a white persons group but Phil Collins and Gwen Stefani are color less?

Smh at you thinking Bone got Will I Am bc they were label mates for a hot minute 15 years ago.

theres no excuse for mr hippity-hop to do a song wit justin bieber.

i dont care who approached who. you respectfully turn it down and give bieber an autograph for his troubles.

You are drawing arbitrary lines in the sand here. Bieber no. Phil Collins, Stefani and Fleetwod Mac are ok though?

It's a Ciara & Ludcris song. We should be busy forgetting it ever existed.

Enh - you gotta give Wacky his credit where it's due. The comparison seemed bonkers to me - but I can hear the influence on that track.

Why the fukk are you idiots mentioning Fleetwood Mac for? The track was a fukking sample fakkit not a collaboration smh

Yeah - obviously I was relying on what someone else had wrote. I'll defer to you on this. If you say they didn't do a track with Fleetwood Mac I got no reason to dispute that.

No reason to throw a hissy fit about it.

East 1999 has some corny beats. I've provided youtube links as examples earlier in the thread.

man, you had the gall to diss the "eternal" beat.

disgust.

there's no excuse for "ghetto cowboy". you respectfully see Mario Van Peebles 'Posse' as a bad look and eschew the studio session.

it wasnt a real song.

nor were they begging for attention when doing it.

younger than Kanye. slightly older than Kobe.

waaay younger than Bizzy.

angry?

youre the same age as bizzy bone if im not mistaken.

homeboy just wowed you with his skills to the point that you always assumed that he was way older than you.

we understand.

:ehh:

Thug Mentality= Platinum

Heavens Movie= Platinum

F.L.E.S.H= Platinum

Thug On The Line= Gold

:troll:

sonned.

now lets see the sales & impact for ob4cl2.

Justin Bieber/Rae song comparison makes no sense because #1 it wasn't on an album.

All the BONE songs I mentioned are actual album cuts.

And #2 , Rae never changed his style before, during, or after that song dropped. People are acting like Rae started rapping for tweens when the Bieber song dropped. He put out 3 street mixtapes, "Coke Up in da Dollar Bill", "The Vatican Mixtape Vol. 4", and "Cocainism Vol. 2", then "Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang" the same year that song was out. All street shyt, same as "OB4CL".

So :wtf: at this having some kinda negative impact on his career or rep.

BONE on that Gwen Stefani song sounds nothing like the group that put out "East 1999". shyt is like night and day.

Fred.

you would have a point if those bone songs were singles.

instead, theyre album cuts released on obscure indie labels. i didnt even know they did songs with gwen stefani & fleetwood mac. how far could they possibly crossover.

the thing with raekwon is that wutang has spent years talking down on the more-commercial rappers. then you go and do a song with a pop singer? and you know he aint write his own chit neither? oh hell naw. he done up-n-done-it.

shyt is only hyped up on the internet as good as a album it is, great album but its not a classic at all.

its nowhere in the same stratosphere as E-99 impact wise.
