I say this every year but I think Niese breaks out this year.
I swear you take away like 5-6 innings where he imploded and his era is like half a run lower.

I'm kinda glad Ike gets another chance. I Mean why not? We're not competing this year. Give him another shot.
If at the all star break he's hitting .116 with four home runs and 13 rbis then peace.
I think he returns to form this season though.

Chris Young has a terrific April and fans love him like this joker last year Colin Cowgill.

Tejada can s my d

Glad Murphy is still on the team.

Harvey Syndegaard Wheeler Montero Niese/Mejia :wow:
It will be interesting to see how this plays out..if one of them get dealt.
As someone who had the "Untouchables" poster hanging in his room (isringhausen, pulsipher, and wilson) its hard to envison this working out..
but thinking positive... our pitching depth right now :wow:

dont see this colon deal working out.
dont see this granderson deal working out.

start lagares.

the god d. wright has another fine season.

Totally forgot to bring up Matz. Sandy's actually a goofy ass old man. Before he even said a word to me .. I said 'got a couple questions for you' (this was in between the 4th and 5th innings) .. he said 'you've got till our lead off batter .. so go .. (I laughed at that point) .. asked him about Drew .. he simply said 'you think he's worth 14 per? Next question..'

I was like 'well damn..' but held in my laughter.

Asked him what his legit view for the team this season was .. he said something along the lines of 'you always want to win it all. If all the cards fall right, we can win this year .. but this is a very big year for us. We need to be competitive deep into the season or find a way into the playoffs, because next year, all of our young arms should be ready to go.'

At this point I think it was Captain Kirk that was walking up to the plate .. and he pointed to him, so I said last one. He nodded. I asked him if he could please have Harvey the GAWD put the fukking baseball down and rest his arm? He laughed.. actually kinda hard while holding his chef salad in his hand .. JP Riccardi giggled too .. and Sandy looked at me.. and said .. 'I dare YOU to try to stop Matt from throwing a baseball.' The he laughed some more and said .. how tall are you? 6'6? I said yea.. he said .. go for it ... and they gigled some more. I laughed, shook their hand and went back to my seat.

They were both pretty fukkin cool.

As for the game .. Thor is really intimidating. He hit 101 4 separate times in his 2 innings of work. He made a good amount of hitters look pretty fukkin bad. He averaged about 97 on his fastballs. He's really long too .. pause. I didnt know that. The kids gonna be really special.

I saw Familia come in too. Damn .. he throws gas too. Was topping out at 98. he needs to work on his control tho. Good velocity. Good movement .. but he shook off Recker a good amount of times, and everytime he did, it was because he wanted to throw junk. I dont think he threw but 1 strike on his off speed pitches.

Fun game. Was hot as balls tho. Would've stayed for the whole game but had to go to work.

For the record .. if Anthony Recker learns to hit.. he can be a damn good backup. He's got a cannon for an arm, and his throws are always right on the money.

Any questions just ask.

shyt squad was there tho. No Ike. No Wright. No Wheeler. No d'Arnaud. No Murph. No Grandy.

Chris Young is a piece of shyt.

They were calling BJ, Kate Upton. :banderas: To the point where he had to call timeout and just shake his head. Met fans were out in full force. At least 85% of the fans at the game were Met fans. :ahh:

But when Justin Upton came up right after him .. everyone shut the fukk uo. :heh: Dude is a house.

Clark: MLBPA Taking Notice Of Mets’ Mid-Market Franchise Payroll

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Calling the New York Mets a “marquee franchise,” new players’ union head Tony Clark is paying attention to the team’s payroll.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said he expects the team’s payroll to be between $85 million and $88 million this season, which would be a slight decrease from its $90.9 million final figure last year.

Despite the additions of free agents Curtis Granderson, Bartolo Colon and Chris Young, the Mets have a payroll resembling that of a mid-market franchise. The Los Angeles Dodgers’ payroll is over $225 million and the New York Yankees will top $200 million.

“Any time there are concerns or issues with any club related to certain habits or trends, we pay attention to it,” Clark said after speaking with Mets players Tuesday during his tour of the 30 spring training camps. “New York is no different than any other club, from the standpoint of appreciating what’s paid in payroll and how clubs may be functioning in general, related to improving the group they have on the field.”

Clark declined to say specifically whether the union has spoken with the Mets’ owners or front office about payroll.

“Rest assured that any conversations we’re having with management likely won’t end up in the newspaper,” he said. “We will always stay engaged, from top to bottom with any club, at least related to any concerns we may have and how those concerns manifest themselves.”

Clark also said he was concerned free agent shortstop Stephen Drew has not signed. Drew, pitcher Ervin Santana and designated hitter Kendrys Morales declined to accept $14.1 million qualifying offers, and teams signing them would lose a selection in June’s amateur draft. But if a team signs one of those players after the draft, it would not forfeit a pick.

“Any time you have players on the free-agent market who are still sitting at home come March 4 that I think everyone would agree can have a positive impact on any club that they would happen to play on, it is a concern,” Clark said. “It’s a topic that we pay a lot of attention to because we don’t think it’s in anyone’s best interests to have some of the top players in the game sitting at home and not playing on the field.”

NOTES: RHP Matt Harvey is paid $546,625 while on the major league roster this year under the one-year deal announced Monday and at an annual rate of $299,250 if on option to the minors. Harvey, recovering from elbow ligament-replacement surgery on Oct. 22, gets paid at the big league rate while on the disabled list or during a minor league injury rehabilitation assignment. … RHP Zack Wheeler has a $512,375 salary in the majors and $169,349 in the minors.

We usually can start off pretty well. I don't have high hopes, but I think this team can do a little something.

QUEENS NY
The Mets absolutely cannot go into the season with Ruben Tejada as the SS. He is 1-15 so far this spring and has already committed 3 errors. It still amazes me how the FO was able to turn Reyes into the villain for leaving while pushing Tejada as a suitable replacement. I always saw Tejada for nothing more than a utility player. Even in his supposed good season in 2012 he was mediocre. Sandy the snake oil salesmen needs to get off his ass and do something, Tejada is his mess.
