One thing to be optimistic about is that we have so much surplus pitching that its almost a certainty that we'll pick up some significant pieces by the deadline. If can tread water and be around 500 by the deadline we might be able to pick up a couple of bats to fill the void. I don't think Colon is going to last the whole year because we have syndergaard coming up and I think a team thats in contention that can use a fifth starter can take him. Also Gee, Montero, DeGrom, Mejia, and maybe Niese(Maybe cuz hes our only lefty) will be probably put on the market. Thats not including the relief arms we have who have potential to be good like Germen, Leathersich, Familia, Black, or even Parnell. We have enough at the first base position to tread water. Lets say Ike is terrible(even though I have a feeling we'll bounce back) Duda may not be aggressive in RBI situations but this year he's not gonna be asked to take over the middle of the order. He can be the same patient slugger he's always been without the liabilty of his outfield defense. Hes gotta be more aggressive but he still has the potential to hit 25 home runs in a full season if healthy. Tejada was terrible last year but if he's a 260 hitter who works the count and gets on base ( as he did prior to 2013) and plays good defense he's serviceable enough to wear we can tread water because I think our starting pitching is solid and our bullpen I think is going to be better than a lot of people think.
