Is it a conscious decision because its part of his charm/appeal? How the hell can someone speak english majority of the time yet sound fresh off the boat 50 years later. Do you think hes capable of doing an American accent? Would you even want to see it? I would.

What are some other actors that uses their accent as a crutch?

Everyone I know who moved to the US from a foreign country as an adult retains their accent.

He speaks it well enough now as opposed to when he was doing Hercules in New York, I guess its part of his appeal. His career astounds me because, No one's ever been able to do the jacked up Hollywood mega star quite like him. Stallone doesn't even have anything like Arnold's run with James Cameron

I always suspected it was fugazi. No way someone’s accent remains that strong for so long.

If he goes back to Austria his accent will sound foreign.

My mum has been in the UK since 1970, she still has a strong Trini accent.

I haven’t lived in NYC in close to 20 years now but ppl can still tell I’m from there based on the way I talk (I don’t use regional slang that gives it away either) and they point it out pretty easily
