So let me get this straight...

Step 1
An italian has a tan

Step 2
Stupid people mistake that italian for being hispanic

Step 3
Stupid people accuse the italian of "brownface"

Step 4
OP makes a thread accusing the italian of blackface

:pachaha:

Can't do nothing but laugh at this point
Nah.
1. Italian woman uses darker makeup to give her the appearance of having darker skin.
2. She changed the pronunciation of her name to sound Hispanic.
3. She literally is walking around in 40s level (White actor playing Black character) Blackface.
4. Twitter brings it up again.

The last name thing is kinda egregious, though.

My thing with her is that she has a legit RnB vocal....and usually is singing over RnB instrumentals...but they always just call it "pop" music.

Meanwhile, the few black folks that actually wanna make pop music get pigeonholed and their music is called "hiphop", "RnB" and "Urban".

Now THAT'S the shyt we should actually be talking about.
She sings over R&B tracks?:patrice:

Always sounds like pop to me

nah that aint it. Italians been tanning deep for quite awhile for beauty purposes without any financial benefits

standard of beauty and style changes, especially in proximity to black culture. those industries are worth a lot of money.

one caters to ppl trying to be cool
the other side caters to ppl trying to be professional

coolness is often conflated with fullness, a perceived trait of blackness. hair with more volume, fuller lips and bodies. the way we dress.

i don’t hate on any of these corporations. but their perception and portrayal of us, while trying to pick and chose what they want from it is not very trustworthy.

so how can someone respect an r&b singer who doesn’t truly have respect for the cultural importance of the field outside of its entertainment and cool factor?

so her authenticity as not just a singer , but as a person is put into question cause she profits a lot from it.

music is a tool expressing our identity amongst ppl constantly trying to take it away.

what is her identity expressing?

if u want, u can go back to the financial route and run the “it’s just entertainment” way:mjgrin:

I ain't watching 17 minute youtube videos for what should be a simple answer.

Also......

I posted that video to let someone else tell you what I’ve said repeatedly already :pachaha:

Also boz scaggs was creating his own music, he’s a guitarist and songwriter - and also a blues musician whether it sells or not..

if he dropped a hip hop album you’d have an argument

I grew up with an Italian chick looked just like her, same fukking ponytail and everything. A lot of Italian white girls like to tan. This is nothing new.

I def thought she was Latina until I read otherwise. Weird, and she def does Black/Lat”speak”- I’ve seen multiple comments calling her an honorary Black woman, Latina, like get outta here. This doesn’t make me  but it’s odd and tiring. Crazy how looking of color is a trend/commodity.

Also to the point abt tans, Snooki, Ronnie, JWoww and those Itals from jersey Shore use just about the same tanning methods and while people call them trashy, they def don’t adopt Black language.

The switch up from white looking to Latina looking for a cover is the most confusing but I’m not sure if that’s the mag or Ariana.
The male ones do adopt outdated black slang, hairstyles, music, vehicle mod styles, etc.
Their "blowouts" were cac versions of Curly box fades.
They bite us, and so do "latins" because they have a similar cultural root.
Italians speak a language based on Latin.
"Hispanics" speak a language based on Latin.
Both immigrant cultures, both hella catholic, both hella "macho", both hella racist to get their feet in the door, both with a history of Moorish dikk being run through their women (on the Spanish end that most Latino people embrace....judging by the % of Latin countries that claim to have a majority white population)...
PR, Cuba, Mexico, Argentina, and many other "Latin" countries mysteriously have a majority "white" population on their census papers.
Concepts like blanquieamiento and mejorar la raza are FIRMLY EMBEDDED within "latin" culture as a whole...so why they mad?
Bad Bunny doesn't look like El General at all, but you won't hear shyt about how they bleached the alleged Genre known as Reggaeton.
HYON, bytches.

An ugly girl is ugly and siccing black twitter on everybody won't force us to embrace precious or alek wek, who would be ugly in any shade.
You don't hear campaigns fighting for people to love Beetlejuice, Sam Cassell, or the breh from "you gonna get raped" meme.
Nope.
The same girls will clown a "black ass nikka" (millenial edition includes hard R) but bytch at a rejection and turn it into activism.
