Pat Benatar didn't make 'Urban Contemporary' music. This would be a better comparison.....

:stylin:

Well pat benatar was a pop singer, never tried to deviate from that

Teena Marie was strictly Rnb, she never went platinum and most wypepo have never heard of her

Ariana grande is a huge megastar, she’s a brand at this point - but she’s co-opting our look and sound to sell to the “mainstream” audience...are there any young Rnb starlets doing billions of views on YouTube? :francis:

The majority of them in America are white/brown, don’t play dumb unless you’re not playing :ohhh:

it’s hella nikkas in the caribbean and south america speaking spanish. the funny thing is they’ll be blacker than most and still claim mixed race. look up blanqueamiento. they had to start a whole movement to become white as an entire country.

what’s the equivalent of that in america? there is none, cause the country is mostly white to begin with. majority of the slaves were NOT sent to the u.s. when they got to this side of the world.

u don't understand context. the root of bleaching is fitting in for menial things like a job with the ppl oppressing you. they do it to remove the intellectual contributions of a ppl like they did with rock and r&b.

even if u bought pizza from a black dude, do u ever for a second forget that pizza comes from italy?

How the fukk is someone going to forget that Ariana Grande is not black?:hhh:

My thing with her is that she has a legit RnB vocal....and usually is singing over RnB instrumentals...but they always just call it "pop" music.

Meanwhile, the few black folks that actually wanna make pop music get pigeonholed and their music is called "hiphop", "RnB" and "Urban".

Now THAT'S the shyt we should actually be talking about.
This bothers me. Like when black people don't fit into industry's marketing, they don't get any support. Example: almost every black rock band.

the name grande sounds hispanic. hispanics are often black or of black ancestry. like i said before, it’s more nikkas in spanish speaking countries than english.

u sound like u only measure ppl by skin color instead of the properties of their culture.

When ppl say Hispanics it should go without saying that we’re not referring to the black ones :stopitslime:

It’s like someone saying Americans are racist and then someone else trying to downplay that by saying America has 50 million black people

No it's not. Maybe in Brazil but they they speak Portuguese. afro Latinos in Spanish speaking countries are usually mixed or a small percentage of the population.

When most people say 'hispanic', the immediate thing that pops into mind is Mestizo types, not black people.
