SMH at posting pictures of Mexican kids from San Luis Potosi with the weird boots, who have absolutely NOTHING in common with Chicanos in Southern California.
Chicano kids took Zoot Suits from Blacks way back in the day. Actually, the kids from El Paso took the style, and when they moved to LA, the locals adopted the style. The only time you'll see Zoot Suits are at Quinceaneras and weddings. Chicanos also love 60's, 70's soul music, and 80's funk music, which is totally Black.
My Grandpa came from Mex to California in the early 50's to work, and till this day all he wears are Ben Davis pants, Black Boots, white t-shirts. And when it gets cold a Pendleton. But that was work attire back then. That's how the cholos would dress in those days but would wear their clothes baggy. They'd also wear cascade shirts and vests and shyt. My Dad's generation would dress like that also(70's/80's), but they would wear khaki shorts, socks pulled up, vans/chucks/cortez, raglans, snapbacks with the bill flipped up, 501's etc..
When I was a kid in the 80's, Black dudes would wear troop suits and have jerry curls. The Gangbangers were the ones who dressed like cholos but would put a twist on it.
To say Chicanos have no influence as far as style goes in California is foolish and straight denial.
