Nope... I listened to that podcast too and the only person from Cali on there was Rikki Martinez and she's from SoCal. From my time out there i'd say Blacks have taken a bit from Spanish culture but I don't stay out there so I don't really know.

Norcal you'll find mexicans either doing their own thing with the cowboys hats and etc or they'll adopt black or cac culture. Not too much different from any other ethnic group really.

Threads like this is why i could never take the coli serious when it comes to race discussions :heh:.

In your minds you're like ":russ: @ us taking shyt from mexicans" but the fact still remains that lowriders,plaid shirts and dikkies came from chicanos on the west coast. These chicanos grew up sharing the same schools and neighborhoods with blacks, so let's not act like it ain't no coincidence that rappers on the west coast imitated the style.

Just look at lowrider car shows on youtube and you'll see that majority of the people there are mexican.

How can we take you seruious when your whole group including the racist ones are biting us hard lol.

To make it worse anybody who jumped on that jumped off ages ago yet mexicans still are in black culture to this day even the racist ones.

Sit yo ass down :russ:

SMH at posting pictures of Mexican kids from San Luis Potosi with the weird boots, who have absolutely NOTHING in common with Chicanos in Southern California.

Chicano kids took Zoot Suits from Blacks way back in the day. Actually, the kids from El Paso took the style, and when they moved to LA, the locals adopted the style. The only time you'll see Zoot Suits are at Quinceaneras and weddings. Chicanos also love 60's, 70's soul music, and 80's funk music, which is totally Black.

My Grandpa came from Mex to California in the early 50's to work, and till this day all he wears are Ben Davis pants, Black Boots, white t-shirts. And when it gets cold a Pendleton. But that was work attire back then. That's how the cholos would dress in those days but would wear their clothes baggy. They'd also wear cascade shirts and vests and shyt. My Dad's generation would dress like that also(70's/80's), but they would wear khaki shorts, socks pulled up, vans/chucks/cortez, raglans, snapbacks with the bill flipped up, 501's etc..

When I was a kid in the 80's, Black dudes would wear troop suits and have jerry curls. The Gangbangers were the ones who dressed like cholos but would put a twist on it.

To say Chicanos have no influence as far as style goes in California is foolish and straight denial.

Mexicans also want to claim black 50s & 60s soul records by calling them Chicano Oldies :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

@Biggavel

Wait a minute. How is that possible? So you're saying that as they're sitting their listening to Smokie, Marvin and the Supremes they're saying that it is Chicano music??:ohhh:
