Black Mages and chocobos are more recognizable than half the characters who made this list.

I also feel like the Slime from Dragon Quest should be somewhere in the 15-20 range. Slimes are definitely up there as some of the GOAT fodder enemies in any video game, bar none. It helps that the creator of DBZ (RIP Akira Toriyama) did all the character art for the entire Dragon Quest series. Although to be fair, Dragon Quest is admittedly a lot bigger in Japan than it is here. The Dragon Quest main theme might as well be their national anthem.

Princess Zelda seems like a good choice on paper but I wouldn’t put her because a lot of people who’ve never played the games think Link is Zelda.
