Lets keep it real here. Southern music is cool. But the overall quality of hip hop has dropped dramatically since their "reign" , Southern cats just dont got that same skill level as East Coast, West Coast, Chicago, Midwest artists.



Is the south as a whole making popular music now = Yes

Is the south as a whole making classic music now = NO



The south do got legends and innovators here and there though. Dj Screw, TI, Outkast, Dungeon Fam, 3 6 mafia, etc. but as a whole they dont stack to NY and LA legends.

So what should he be listening to?

For the record I don't mind a lot of stuff coming from the south and I don't waste energy crying about what I don't like. But lets be clear. Most rap nowadays is garbage. Think I'm lying? Go to Datpiff and pick any of their "featured" CDs. Odds are very high it will be trash. The South makes a lot of music. By extension a lot of it has to be trash too.

Now Im not gonna blame the South for anything, because it really comes down to the unsupportive fans and money hungry industry. But I will say yall support your own. However theres also an element of complacency & friendliness that has made some of your top artists get lazy. I remember when Khalid was dropping the same song over and over. Wayne fell off and has made no indication of getting his shyt back together. 2 Chainz... the nikka's name is 2 Chainz nuff said. So theres a lot of goofy shyt going on down there too. But when a nikka tells the truth people start crying.
