Because it's just not true. East & West have not just tons of classics, but legendary music from the 80's-early 2000's that changed the game and impacted music and American culture altogether. Albums and artist that will forever be synonomus with hip-hop itself in historical archives. The south has had their club hits and stuff for the past 10 years, but how much of that is going to be remembered 30 years from now when talking about rap that had epic impact on the culture like NWA, Deathrow, Pac, Big, Nas Def Jam, Wu, Eric B. & Rakim, Run DMC..the abundance of classic NY cuts that BUILT this form of music, dance and lifestyle throughout the entire 80's? You got some from the south that would fit in that category, but
The past 7-8 years in rap music, including east & west, has basically been season 5 of Martin status. Just because the south has been the biggest star of the show doesn't hold that much weight when you look at the entire run
You're looking at it through a very narrow minded perspective.. the fact that you consider southern hiphop nothing but some club hits lets me know you're either a cac or a 90s baby..
Of course EC and WC is gonna be remembered down the line more as far as impact, because they had the platform to put their shyt out much longer than the south did. Yall nikkas had BET MTV every media outlet on your dikks .... nikkas out the South been doing our thing dropping classics, eating good and selling millions for years going all the way back to the early 90s.. the south was just being overlooked just because it was the south.. Had nothing to do with the material being put out. And none of that mattered because nikkas down here was still going douple and triple platinum without help from other regions.... Half you mothafukkas aint even qualified^ to even speak on southern hip hop when your only exposure to it is through youtube/internet.. You needed the radio and MTV to tell you whats hot.....
