Are there people still on the internet that hate southern hiphop?

Not my bag :manny:

They've made some dope albums over the years, I love a lot of the earlier stuff from the late 90's

no i dont think the region itself hurt hip hop... i think MOST of the unlistenable artists that came out of that region def played a decent part

:lawd:

i enjoy krit, currensy, ugk, scarface, devin the dude and outkast but lets face it, based on radio play most of the southern stuff was always on that crunk tip. never a fan of the ringtone songs/one hit wonders.

You also have artists that drop albums with no promotion from their label. Z-ro being the prime example. Bun B is still on Rap a lot too. Big Pokey is nice as well.

Big Moe was nice on the mic too. DJ Screw is one of the reasons why people chop and screw their albums now. Asap rockey is a good example of that:skip:

I agree though, a lot of southern artists have that bang on their tracks :ohlawd:

Because it's just not true. East & West have not just tons of classics, but legendary music from the 80's-early 2000's that changed the game and impacted music and American culture altogether. Albums and artist that will forever be synonomus with hip-hop itself in historical archives. The south has had their club hits and stuff for the past 10 years, but how much of that is going to be remembered 30 years from now when talking about rap that had epic impact on the culture like NWA, Deathrow, Pac, Big, Nas Def Jam, Wu, Eric B. & Rakim, Run DMC..the abundance of classic NY cuts that BUILT this form of music, dance and lifestyle throughout the entire 80's? You got some from the south that would fit in that category, but :whoa:

The past 7-8 years in rap music, including east & west, has basically been season 5 of Martin status. Just because the south has been the biggest star of the show doesn't hold that much weight when you look at the entire run

I remember when I first started posting on hiphop message boards every other thread was blaming the south for what they did to hiphop and how the south didnt care about lyrics, how the south only cared about rims and dancing

But, Future has a thread that's multiplat filled with praise. 2 Chainz gets constant praise, so does Gucci and Jeezy?

What happened? Did everybody just accept the fact you didn't have to rhyme big ass words together to make good music?

it aint the big words, its the lack of themes other than strippers, smoke and drank:skip:

So that's all we talk about in the south breh? Don't lump a few cats up with every damn body. We have some of the realist most soulful joints come from down here.

half the reason thos cats have so much influence and importance in hip hop is because people say they do. Im not denying their importance, but over the years they have been deified because of snowball efect type shyt. You got young cats now who say BIG is the GOAT just because thats the mainstream view of hip hop thye have been taught even if they never listened to his music.

And the other side of the coin is that southern artists didnt get the same chance to influence hip hop just because jaded east coast types never let them. I guarantee if a lot of texas and NO artists lived in new york, people would have payed more attention and they would have gotten the burn they deserve. UGK is considered to be the biggest influential southern act outside of scarface, and they never even sold a platinum album.

you do and I agree with that.. but y'all suffer from a very bad stereotype down there becuz y'all have allowed the bad apples to dominate your region...

The knock on the East and West Coast at this point is just the sound coming out from those regions is not whats in. The south is perceived as gold teef and uneducated clowns..

The South gets way to much hate. I don't know what it is. Maybe people refusing to accept a new experience, new artist, or it could be dumb elitism I don't get it. Do you not like having fun :wtf: Do you not have a car? You think some fancy rhymes and punchlines are the only way to rap?

Cacs gonna Cac :manny:
Thats not what it is. OP is incredibly sensitive.

"He" doesn't want to respect/acknowledge shyt he doesn't listen to/like, but throws a menstrual tantrum when people shyt on stuff he likes. nikkas dont funk with Future, its an East Coast conspiracy :heh:

Wash, rinse, repeat. This will NOT be the last Crimsonsanitarypad post crying about why everyone doesn't have the same taste in music as he does, you can bet your last Coli dollar on that

CrimsonTider is a bytchmade faggit cumdumpster that regularly masterbates to Drake's shirtless photos and dreams of having all of the platinum selling artists in the rap game running a train on him.

I can't deny that the South as well have had a lot of rappers that can go up against East Coast dudes. Scarface, UGK, and so on have given us classic records. And then we have dudes like TI and Big Krit, who, (save his latest album) has produced great quality music without being on that dumb tip.

So even though there was an influx of crap from that region, I wouldn't really lump everyone in the South together.
