The actor didn't feel like he was from Harlem..breh was corny as shyt.
The wire isn't a black TV show.
It was a police crime drama..where they happened to show the perspective of the streets...they even showed how white criminals get down(i.e the politicians..and the docks).

The Wire was Black enough so that all the cac award shows including the Emmy's forgot the show existed until it was off the air and now the same cacs that ignored it want to recognize it as one of the greatest shows ever while quoting it like they were actually watching it when it was on the air

The crazy thing about Power by 50 is it was one of the few shows where a straight Black man was in charge of his circumstances without being under the control of anyone. House of Lies was the other.
Because every other show with Black men shows a black dude working for some cac, or he's henpecked by his wife and is a clown, or he's playing an unemployed joker who doesn't amount to much like on Atlanta where Glover deliberately wrote the characters so they never really succeeded.

i have never watched the 50cent shows i know his template lol, its going to involve gangster life.
i have a huge amount of respect for Donald Glover he is a walking genius with it, multi talented so i have seen clips of Atlanta and its very funny but i dont know the whole back story.
but you could say at least Donald Glover is looking at a grander picture than the rest of these writers obsessed with criminal voyeurism.

The biggest name making his own is Tyler perry...but his shyt is geared towards feel good chick flicks.
I been dabbling in writing screenplays or just story outlines...I just haven't taken the next step in making it a reality....I wish Hollywood or rather people with the power to do so backed the black directors and artists who want to put out quality shows starring black people.
I had to defend the wire somewhat because I feel they tried to do justice in portrayal of black people. Yes Omar was gay but you didn't feel like it was put in there for an agenda...atleast I didn't.

I never watched the wire i was righteous from way back lol, but i do know it had idris as stringer bell and a few things like that.
just waiting on more stories about "black adventure, character portrayals, arthouse joints,etc".
the matrix was probably the last black writer that gave the world something dope and incredible.
