You really should check it out.
Its not celebrating European history at all.
If anything, its showing just how much of a cold and dark place Europe was during those times.
Best thing I've ever seen on TV and there's nothing remotely close IMO.

i never even heard of the books until the show came out down near 15 yrs later so we weren't really the intended audience
shyt just kind of blew up and now the lack of blacks (who probably made up like 1% of the book readers) is an issue?

Also in the books, one of the Sand Sisters is described as Black. However, her character isn't on the TV show.
There's also random Black people walking around in the background in a few scenes.
It would have been nice to explore their continent more....
1. The Dornish are basically Spanish Moors. They are dark-skinned and super different from everything else in Westeros...they don't even consider themselves Westerosi...they'd say they are Dornish or Rhonyar before Westerosi.
2. Naath/The Summer Isles and Sotheryos are basically the Caribbean and Africa respectively. Missande,i played by Nathalie Emannuel, is Naathi. In the books, the Summer Isle are a very organized and civilized society where warfare is so ritualized that the soldiers don't die (only exiled) and there is no collateral damage.

Never really cared if there were any Black folks on this show.
1) If there was a prominent Black character, guaranteed they would have been killed off by now or had some bad shyt happen to them.
2) There are hardly any likable characters on the show. Most are trash, and/or murderous, incestuous scumbags. Arya was my favorite character and I can't even root for her anymore.
