Are there any Black directors with a similar style to Nolan or Scorsese?

Malcolm X is better than any Nolan film and is up there with Scorcese’s best. Scorsese himself called it one of the best films of the 90s.

Spike has his own unique style but his most “Scorcese” type film as far as tone imo is Mo Better Blues

Aside from The Dark Knight which I love, I’m starting to think that Nolan is incredibly overrated. He gets by on great concepts but visually he’s pretty bland, his editing is a complete mess and he has some cringe worthy, overly expository and on the nose dialogue. Everything is about the theme and concept rather than realistic, natural characters.
