Just because black Ricans managed hold on to certain traditions doesn't mean that the island as a whole wasn't racist.

Breh, no disrespect but the whole thing is just juelzing around the truth. Puerto Ricans are not “white without white privilege”. How does that make sense? You either fit into the upper class of whitenes or you don’t. It’s frankly a well written page of nonsense imo.

And I would even go as far as saying Puerto Ricans have even further complicated the nonsense that is race. Many of then aspire to whiteness and want to be near it while be absolved frome the bad parts of being white. I maintain my point. Puerto Ricans are not white. They can be white but also be black, indigenous or mixed race

Listen I’m from the BRONX, I grew up around Puerto Rican’s & Dominicans and other Caribbean people of the greater Antilles I MYSELF AM A JAMAICAN from my observation most Puerto Rican’s & Dominicans & other Latinos do not consider themselves BLACK, they use the nationality as a shield to seperate themselves from blackness, now these are the mesitizos & triguenos and other obviously mixed ones etc...the ones who are obviously black or have Afrocentric features are the ones who are usually woke & are in touch with their African roots, notwithstanding there’s some really kool Latinos who are laid back & will even acknowledge the racism in Latin America but their generally indifferent & apathetic nature towards it makes them complicit in my eyes.....now from my perspective they are in racial purgatory not exactly white but phenotypically ambiguous enough to be placed above black people in the racial hierarchy

Puerto Rico is a white island by design.

Prior to 1815, Puerto Rico was 90% Black. Spain took notice it, and did not want Puerto Rico to end of like Haiti. So in 1815, they made a decree that Europeans were allowed to settle/inhabit the land. Whites came to Puerto Rico and many of them breeded with the Black natives of the land. They also created a drop white rule as well where mixed people could legally be declared white.
