For most, as earning potential grows, so does selfishness. I'm doing pretty well for myself and don't mind paying taxes until I see my sis-in-law do nothing but game the system and other people and then I get a thought of "this is what all my damn money goes to?"

Being raised in poverty by people who really were trying their best helps me to know better and keep fighting the good fight.

A lot of white folks don't have that, plus they've always been about self, so the Republican party aligns with their selfish perspective. Even a lot of the white Dems want to "help" because it satisfies their need to feel good about themselves, not necessarily to fix things.
