Ahhhhh so Prov is crazier and has more of a killer instinct? Because of all the highlight reel KO's he has against top notch competition.......wait
Well he sure has more of a killer instinct, because he had tim bradley concussed and brutally knocked him out!......wait

Prov's faster/better on the inside, so he destroyed TB on the inside and doesn't make gigantic defensive flaws!!!!......Wait TB worked him and beat him because of his inside work, and Prov drops his right hand EVERY time he throws a left hook...And lucas isn't quick on the inside anyway!!!! Wait he KO'd Lamont peterson (way faster than prov) with a left hook the ONLY time they were toe to toe, in the 3rd round.

Ahhhh yes Prov has been to dark demonic places that Lucas certainly doesn't go to!!!..........Wait when have we ever seen this? When he couldn't finish off concussed TB over 11 fukkin rounds? No wait it was against Algeiri! No wait he didn't do any work after the first. Oh well he has right? Because look at all the brutal KO's he has against non-espn fighters!!!!! Wait nah that hasn't happened.

So that article of opinion and conjecture (which was mostly BS) is what has @LauderdaleBoss @Knicksman20 and some others ready to pick prov??? :patrice:

It's a toss up fight with Provo prolly being a slight underdog. Ruslan can be an offensive beast when he wants to and I just think he's the better puncher. (power, release, versatile, etc..) Me picking him by late KO isn't some sort of blind leap of faith :mjlol:

This is a FOTY candidate. Fights like this don't need any long-winded breakdowns. You just pick slugger A or slugger B and see what happens.

Hope to be in the threads with yall tonight i'm still mad I missed the Garcia/Peterson fight live last weekend. Anyone know the best streaming site I got rid of my HBO sub but the way Showtime been looking this year :flabbynsick: I might need to come home. I just wanna see Crawford continue to improve the most out of all the fights tonight. I think Lucas wins as long as he doesn't fight like a dumbass Prov ain't nothing impressive to me.

Just like @LauderdaleBoss said this is a pick em fight between 2 punchers where one is more relentless. Provo also has some intangibles that make me side with him. We'll see tonight & I hope you don't disappear into the wind when the fights over :sas2::russ:

I just think Lucas is the better fighter. Therefore I pick him to win. One thing could be huge though....is if Prov starts fast and Lucas starts slow. AS I stated before though...this could be another Gatti-Ward trilogy.

The last part highlighted is the EXACT reason I think Provo is gonna win & stop Matty. He looks like genuinely enjoys getting hit & inflicting pain on his opponents. Very :demonic:
the thing about this fight. any fighter can end it at any moment. it's not even about chins, it's about how big of puncher's these guy's are. any fighter gets hit with great force they can be put to sleep. But I just think maKNEEsay is overall better than prov. better boxer and a bigger puncher too. the question is who can take more punishment. I don't believe maKNEEsay was "on the brink" with molina. one knockdown he was cuffed behind the head and the other he just got caught slippin in a vulnerable position. he wasn't dazed by either of em. later in the fight he took much bigger punches from molina and barely flinched. I actually think that fight helped maKNEEsay more than hurt him. it was the first real war he's been in and he finished it in brutal fashion. molina was bleeding from every opening in his face. nose, mouth, eyes, ears..... maKNEEsay had his ass bleeding from the side of his head. that shyt aint normal. I know prov can hurt maKNEEsay but I think lucas is smart enough to box early then go for the kill once prov starts to wear down. I expect prov's swelling to be a major issue early on. don't think his face will hold up.

Mauricio Herrera knows as well as anyone what Lucas Matthysse will be up against Saturday night in Verona, New York. Herrera took Ruslan Provodnikov's unbeaten record back in 2011 but believes the Russian will emerge the victor over his Argentine opponent.

"I favour Ruslan. Matthysse is a great fighter as well, anything can happen in boxing but just by their past fights and how they look I go with Ruslan," Herrera told BoxingScene.com.

"He has the speed, power and shows how hungry he is, he really wants it. I sparred with Matthysse before he fought Danny Garcia and putting the two together I feel that Ruslan is a very hard puncher. Even if you try to box him he can still catch you and hurt you. Look at guys that beat him like me and [Chris] Algieri, you still come out looking like you lost, even [Tim] Bradley."

Herrera is of the opinion that Matthysse could potentially fold due to Provodnikov's power and even sees a stoppage.

"I don’t think Matthysse is a great defensive fighter. Once he feels that power, I don’t know what his game plan is but it's going to shake him up. At the same time Matthysse hits hard as well and Provodnikov swells up pretty quick, he gets cut easily. He has thin skin so if Matthysse wins it could be a stoppage via cuts and bruises. I favour Ruslan to pull it out, even by stoppage. I only went four rounds with Matthysse, it was more boxing him, trying to take away his power. With Ruslan it was 8oz gloves.

"I notice with their styles Matthysse is easier to hit," Mauricio continued.

"When I was fighting Ruslan he was easy to hit too but I noticed his counters are fast. I think I have a fast jab and when I threw it he'd come over real quick with a counter. He's quick with that and has power in both hands. Matthysse's chin is going to get tested. John Molina is not very fast but he put the hurt on Matthysse, it was a war. Then look at Molina with [Adrien] Broner, he couldn’t do anything. Ruslan fought Bradley who is quick and was picking him off all night.

"I want the winner but if it's a close fight they may have a rematch and I'm screwed."

Good post.

Ruslan's countering is underrated. Dude was making Timmy pay for them flailing ass combos he likes to throw when against the ropes.
