If you are 15 years old today and never heard of Nas then you're not a hip hop head. This is the social media era, Nas is constantly mentioned and saluted by today's biggest stars (Lebron, J Cole, Kendrick, etc...)...not to mention the gossip and shyt. Seems unbelievable.
bro 15 year olds don’t care about Kendrick, j cole, or nas, nor do they care about being a hip hop head.

durk, lil baby, da baby, 42 dugg, youngboy, ect that’s hip hop to youngins.

Neck ties and boxing gloves.
Didn’t they have some minor beef because Em didn’t wanna rap a verse on The Cross? I might be remembering wrong but it was something like that. And hence we’ve never got an Nas / Em collab

No.

There was no beef.

Em wanted to rap a verse on it but Nas just wanted the beat.

I'm guessing that on the heels of Ether he didn't want that line about Em murdering Jay on his own shyt to potentially backfire.

I shyt on Em's music all the time. But you can never deny the dude is a hip hop fan and respects the art to the fullest. Breh has a tape collection behind him in that video. He's not a vulture.
but this is nothing unique? lol
one cat from nsync is a hip hop historian too..forgot his name, he can talk about hip hop and albums for years..
so what?

I respect it. It means he’s like us. Versus someone like Iggy who came to America to be a model, failed, became a failed pop singer, and then started rapping. If you actually love this shyt I can respect you.

The problem with Em is that he’s a certified hip hop nerd to the core that is also a fan but his music doesn’t really reflect it doing songs with Skylar Grey and Pink. He doesn’t really reach out to many hip hop artists who he praises. I’m not sure if it’s business related but his diehard fans would listen to it if he puts them on his projects.

I would be interested in Eminem putting out another book. The Way I Am was an unexpectedly good read. :ehh:

It has to be business-related because it never made sense to me how open and proud he is about his hip hop fandom. Guy wears T-shirts of old rap albums so his fans can be educated and possibly be interested in checking them out. But at the same time, he's getting beats from Skylar and the first time he's ever worked with DJ Premier was just him scratching over a beat he didn't even make so.......what other reason could there be?

Other people have mentioned it, but I think Eminem would get a lot out of making a real old-school hip hop album. Have one guy produce the whole thing, maybe someone legendary like Marley Marl or DJ Quik. Get a bunch of old-school rappers for features, use all the classic samples and break beats like "Funky Drummer" and "Impeach the President." He could even change up his flow/delivery so it sounds more like it came from the golden age. It would be fun.
