Nas refusing to let Eminem rap on "The Cross" is a history rewrite. Em was never supposed to be on "The Cross". Their collaboration started with Eminem reaching out to Nas for the 8 Mile soundtrack. Nas played Eminem some songs and Eminem wanted "Made You Look". Nas refused to give him "Made You Look" and "You Wanna Be Me" is what ended up being on the soundtrack. During that period, Eminem gave Nas the beat for "The Cross".
