we don't know how he effed up. we can't say it was the same situation. on the show, Harper obviously tried to manipulate currency after her initial mistake. (hey man, when it comes to the terminology, you gonna lose me in the moors. im telling you now.) there is a lot of faking it till you make going on in every "Industry"

EXCLUSIVE: The cast of HBO/BBC’s investment banking drama Industry is adding three new series regulars for Season 2. Alex Alomar Akpobome (Twenties, For All Mankind) and Adam Levy (The Witcher) have joined the series, from creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay. Additionally, Indy Lewis, who guest starred in an episode of Season 1, has been named a series regular.

Industry, produced by Bad Wolf, gives an insider’s view of the blackbox of “high finance” through the eyes of an outsider, Harper Stern (Myha’la Herrold), a talented young woman from upstate New York. Following a group of young grads fueled by ambition, youth, romance and drugs, the series examines issues of gender, race, class, and privilege in the workplace as these impressionable young minds begin to forge their identities within the pressure cooker environment and sensory blitz of Pierpoint & Co’s trading floor, where meritocracy is promised but hierarchy is king.

Akpobome will play Danny Van Deventer, a wonder-kid Executive Director who recently landed in London from Pierpoint New York. Handsome, loquacious and charming – Danny is a head-turning presence on the trading floor and a potential role model for the bank’s younger recruits.

Levy will play Charles Hanani, a jet-setting playboy looking to reconnect with his daughter, Yasmin (Marisa Abela).

As briefly glimpsed in Season 1, Lewis plays Venetia Berens who joins Yasmin’s Foreign Exchange Sales Desk as its newest recruit. Bright-eyed, razor-sharp and not afraid to talk back to those in power, she provides a strong generational counterpoint to the desk’s old school ways

I thought this series was a trainwreck in terms of execution and examplary of why you don't go for rookie showrunners especially when they have a background in finance and NOT the show business. None of the characters are likeable. Oh well, I look forward to season 2.

Just finished episode 5 but I’m struggling to reach the end of the season. I saw some comparisons to Euphoria and Billions and that’s mad accurate because all three of them are empty calorie popcorn shows. Plenty of gloss and a few entertaining moments but it’s mostly oversexed and undercooked.

I really liked Billions at first and I still watch because I like the actors, but there’s just not much to the show beneath the surface. It’s wealth porn where all the main characters are rich because they’re smart, and everyone knows every obscure reference at the drop of a hat. The dialogue is ridiculous but it can be fun if you turn your brain off.

Then you compare it to a show like Succession where rich people are shown as actual people with layers and average intelligence and it just makes for a deeper show in my opinion. Succession displays wealth and excess in a way to show you that rich people aren’t geniuses, they’re often just greedy people who were born on 3rd base and overestimate their own ability constantly. This is all just my opinion of course but it tracks with my interactions with wealthy people in real life.

That’s on point

The rich guys are the cool guys in Billions and the smartest people in the room. It doesn’t surprise me because Andrew Ross Sorkin’s career is based around sucking Wall Street’s dikk.

Still not sure how i feel about this show, in a critical sense. There’s so much to be said about it, also i know Lena Dunham was one of the writers on it…:patrice:

And I’m not even hating on that big broad, she’s a good writer but this show feels like it competing with the other finance bro shows on tv and its just not that. It was entertaining enough for me to want to watch more though:manny:

Lena is not a writer on this show. She just directed the pilot.

Pretty sure she was a producer. Makes sense considering the showrunners are finance guys first showbiz second.

Perhaps the fact Robert is the only character that's not unlikable is her influence.

I like this show and I’m about 6 episodes in but... this black dude is the most emasculated character I’ve ever seen. Dude is always getting bytched out or sucking dikk. :scust:

This is truly dat ‘genda in action.

A real Breh killing it in the stock market would make white viewers insecure

:mjlol:

Im not surprised this got renewed. It checks off all the boxes.
