So......... in other words, it's best to work for a private contractor at this point? :huh:

Many, although definitely not all, private contractors started out with Uncle Sam. The contractors get more bang for their buck because 1) you will probably still have many professional contacts from your gov't days, so hopefully you can bring in more business 2) starting out in government usually means you were given a lot more responsibility in the early part of your career then if you for instance went straight from college to the private sector 3) 90% of typical private contractors count the government as their biggest client - who better to help the company navigate how to keep their master happy then someone who was just working for that same master?
