Progress up date: how is everyone doing? Any new progress?

Been hitting duolingo daily and I can hear certain terms on Brazilian TV shows........

Kids shows are getting easier since they speak slower than regular TV/movies

For the next 2-3 month I'll just keep soaking up content through immersion and keep at it with duolingo ...

I can recognize certain root words in the language and any phrases I keep hearing
I quickly lock on to plus I can read it now just don't know what a lot these words mean.......

Conversations are a no go right now.... this girl sent me a voice note and to say the struggle was real would a disappointment

One thing I suggest is when looking up a word (a noun) use google image search instead of a straight translation

Duolingo does that .... It's not the word association that bothers me breh

It's the fact that I simply don't have the vocabulary because I just started....

Over time as I learn new words I'll become proficient.... just like I did with english

That's wassup, Duolingo is really the goat. I should check out some little kid shows, i been trying to watch Telenovelas but i havent found any that really interest me. Watching soccer in Spanish is too hard because they speak really fast so you know.

That last paragraph man lol, i'm with you on that. My english accent is too much man, i just can't pronounce these spanish words.

The Brazilian London Carnaval is in 3 weeks ..... I'm going even if it's in Brixton

All the brazilians here are white but I do remember running into a pardo girl years ago
I handed her off to the homie but he flopped...when he spoke to her

The black portuguese people here are from Angola/PT...so that's not going to useful accent wise


Good thing I've been consuming Brazilian content like a mad man and flying through duolingo.

What's your plan breh ?

Now Ben and Holly on the other hand ? this show has too much fukkery not to watch

This is why I'm getting into French as well. As a Nigerian many countries around Nigeria are Francophone.

Im studying Spanish at UCLA now and shyt is rougher than i would have imagined. Just got back from Cuba where i got to practice, but the readings at school are just way too high above my head. It's definitely an adjustment.

3rd month has been the hardest one ... Found a few sources for catching BR TV
but had to ultimately get IPTV so I can get the channels in better quality streams.

Reading - I can't comprehend a lot of words but I can identify root words in english
Writing - Not much to say here except the text conversations
Hearing - I can watch kids shows just fine but adult shows are a struggle
Speaking - A lot of gaps in grammar and vocabulary

Time for phase 2....

- Going to improve vocabulary and grammar through 2 hours a day of study
( FS1 Brazil/ Textbooks/ Online courses )
- Watch a movie/listen to a podcast a day
- Catch #ESPNBrazil for NBA games
- Continue conversations with muita mulheres

I had a dream I was spitting fluently on some native sh!t.... time to deliver
