I feel the same way, like this show has an invisible wall it can't cross, but despite that the acting is incredible. I got friends in Network TV though and word on street is they were going to cancel it after this season, but they could be rethinking it especially after the timeliness of the more recent episodes.

The creator of the show John Ridley used to be a stand up comedian. He kind of reminds me of light-skineded Dave Chappelle.

You could see it coming but I still can't believe Russ went out like that. Same goes for Aubrey. Glad everything worked out for Hector..
The show got renewed for season 2. Seems like the series it could end here but we still don't know who really killed Matt, though, right?

What do y'all think really happened brehs? Who killed the Cacs? Did Gwen do a murder/attempted suicide?
Was Hector contrite and ok with doing life because he was the murderer? Lots of questions unanswered.

I think Aubrey;s story about what happened was basically close to what really happened... except she clearly left out Carter's involvement for obvious reasons to protect him. The cops already came at her trying to turn her against him in an attempt to railroad him. We've seen throughout the season that she is a loose cannon and is damn near willing to kill for him or throw her own family under the bus when he's attacked. Some sort of an altercation took place between Matt and Carter... and she intervened in her own way.
What a great finale tho.. I need to watch it again to digest it a little more.

But it's also possible that Carter did the shyt too. Remember the first episode he beat the shyt out of that one drug dealer, I thought he killed him at first.
The second altercation, Carter was sober and knew he was out on bail so he was kinda like "I'm gonna have to take this ass beating

It was a decent season. Nowhere near as good as the critics let on. The last episode was kinda predictable, but fitting.
It's a 6/10 show for me. I dunno if I'll watch season 2.
