Umar Johnson is an educator from Philadelphia he came on the scene in the conscious community in the early 2010 talking about propaganda against black boys in the educational system in the school-to-prison pipeline
He was pitching this idea of a pan-african school for education for young black boys that would have been privately owned and tuition debased and he has been peddling this idea for a decade now with nothing to show for it except three foreclosed buildings and through living off the donations of so many black folks that believed in the idea like a bum.
hotep hustling idealist with no business sense takes on a loafty goal of building a school for all Black children using crowd funding... constantly invoking the memory of several prominent Black leaders and ancestors to position himself in their lineage... literally even claiming to be a descendant
Eventually fails spectacularly to deliver on his promise after many rounds of funding and appears to have lost his home and sanity in the process
the details are basically about bad planning and mismanagement of the dollars
Nooooooo! This is so sad because he’s right about the school-to-prison pipeline for black kids. But if this is really what he did, he made it harder for others to get support!!!!
he was right about a lot of the problems. he just wasn't necessarily equiped to handle them. a lot of his debacle seems to be down to his ego. taking on too much and perhaps even using some of the money for himself. I think a lot of people who end up being scammers in this arena start out with good intentions but once they touch that money it's hard for them to be accountable or stay focused on the initial goals.Nooooooo! I'm going to pray for you man. it's obvious umar doesn't know what he's doing but somebody like you still wants to keep the faith and that would be admirable if it wasn't so depressing given the fact he's done everything to the opposite to gain our trust.the money is not gone and he is not scammming anybody. ya'll just don't want to get off mr charlie plantation.
So those 47 schools were made by volunteer labor in the 70's?there are 47 university of islam schools across the country. 40 percent of the students are non muslim. try harder
I never followed this brotha. Can somebody give me cliffs on what happened? I have similar goals and if I can get some insight into where he needed support, it would be helpful.
you think clara muhammad had the funds to a crew to put those school together in the 30's LOLSo those 47 schools were made by volunteer labor in the 70's?
Or are you just going completely off track from the topic at hand.
Oh, those 47 schools were built by volunteers in the 30's?you think clara muhammad had the funds to a crew to put those school together in the 30's LOL
It’s clear he thought more people would donate more money as shyt progressed.Should have taught himself carpentry, and basic construction to get the buildings in shape
I can't understand how he didn't get the cost of running a school - he was a principal
how else were they builtOh, those 47 schools were built by volunteers in the 30's?
you mean just like the ujima schools in brooklyn was shut down because brothers dont't want to fund their liberationI'm going to pray for you man. it's obvious umar doesn't know what he's doing but somebody like you still wants to keep the faith and that would be admirable if it wasn't so depressing given the fact he's done everything to the opposite to gain our trust.
What are you going to say or what will you eventually say when Umar reveals that he is no longer in possession/ownership of the school because it's been auctioned off?
The guy just lies and lies and lies and he's so caught in a Web of Lies that he can't get out at this point it would have just been more beneficial to himself and his followers and just be honest and say the truth.
