I was a patient care tech for 2 weeks which is basically the hospital equivalent of a cna except they pay just a Lil better. I wanted to get direct patient contact hours so I could do a master's program for physician assistant. It was terrible and I quit after 2 weeks, and the first week was just classroom training. It's the type of job u get the sense that no one does unless they have no other options. Ur opinion is irrelevant, and nurses are lazy as fukk and think u exist to do whatever dirty work they deem themselves too good for.
The dirty work with the patients oddly didn't bother me that much becasue once u see how bad of a shape many of those patients r in and how helpless they r u feel more sadness than disgust. It's like here's a fully grown man who used be able bodied and cared for himself and his family and now he's so weak he can't wipe his own ass or shower himself. I felt so much pity that I never wanted to make them feel worse by making it seem gross

Went back to school and finished the pre med requirements. I wanted to do PA cuz it's only a 2 year program but to get the patient contact hours u need something like emt, medical assistant, cna, etc. I picked cna cuz it's only a 5 week program and the other ones take months and cost more to get the certificate. I'd rather spend more years in a classroom than have to do that type of work even for a year
