maybe if Jimi Hendrix had a real music teacher and not himself as one he wouldnt have fukkin choked on vomit and drugs and died.
Lol. Damn. For the trends, What did you play? Fender? Gibson? Music Man?
I thought about giving lessons, but I'm not that adept at reading music. It's one of those things where I know how to play, I wouldn't be comfortable teaching people, much less charging them.
That's how I was with clarinet and guitar. I was pretty good at clarinet, but I felt like a dweeb playing it.
Upon re-reading your response, I have to admit that you do have a point. As far as a TRUE musician goes. I suppose I just took offense to the whole "You're just a fan; not a true musician" part. I'll fall back on that point. I'm the first person to admit that I'm no Flea or Jaco Pastorius. Doesn't make anything that I create any more or less valid than a "true" musicians offering. I suppose that it all comes down to what one considers a TRUE musician.
outside of the classical realm, there are tons of musicians that have no fukking idea what they're looking at if you hand them sheet music, especially guitarists. which really doesn't matter much anyways since the guitar doesn't really jive with sheet music because there's different ways to play notes and chords.
you don't need to know how to read/write music notation to know theory, either.
you flip flop.
Spector
Is there really the need to bytch about who's formally trained & what not? who gives a fukk as long as someone can play something nice it dont matter to me
