You don't need to know how to read to be a great storyteller. Think about that.
yeah? so what about all the books you can't read to expand your "storyteller" mind.. hmm? knowledge is power.

What about it?
Working within and around limitations often creates definitive and signature styles.
theory involves notation. how can you say that? smhyou don't need to know how to read/write music notation to know theory, either.
why you so mad, b?
sure, it's a part of theory, i'll give you that. like i said, you don't need to know how to fill out a staff to understand scales, modes, articulations, etc.
think before you speak.
youre so wrong and naive at the same time.
you need to know how to fill a staff if I was to dictate to you. if you cant write down rhythm patterns i tap or speak in syllables and NOT be able to notate it like a classical composer would do BECAUSE THEY WERE CLASSICALLY TRAINED, you're a joke.
How can you understand scales and modes and articulations IF YOU CAN'T READ THEM ALONG WITH ANYTHING ON STAFF PAPER!
WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU!!
Calm down.
1. Classical music is not the only music.
2. On a fretted instrument like the bass guitar, a clever person could figure out basic scales and patterns since every jump and gap is uniform in terms of steps.
I can read music, but I'm not going to say I'm a better musician than Paul McCartney or Django Reinhart.
what's wrong with me?
you're the emo downie that thinks the only way you can learn a scale is by reading it off a staff.
knowing how to play and how music "works" and knowing how to read sheet music are two different things you stupid fukk. jesus. people can speak english (or any language) and not really know how to read/write it. same thing. was jimi hendrix NOT a musician?
if you want to write baroque-style film scores or some shyt, sure, then musical notation is something you'll need but you don't have to be able to fill out a staff like a classical composer to have a grasp on music theory.
how can you claim to be a teacher and not understand the difference?
maybe if Jimi Hendrix had a real music teacher and not himself as one he wouldnt have fukkin choked on vomit and drugs and died.
No, you idiot. I'm a music teacher who teaches classical theory and piano to children. So i know for a fact you need to know theory to start a musical endeavor.
you wanna be stubborn and fight me and say its ok to be a half ass wonderful musician.. ok. do you.
but what the fukk would it hurt to learn something that will BENEFIT you that you DONT know. hmm?? whats the big deal??
who said youre writing baroque style compositions or chorale shyt... its just knowing theory and all the technical shyt as a foundation to expand your talent.
