Get some earplugs asap. You'll start to get constant ringing in your ears and your hearing will fukk up more and more over time. Exhaust + wind noise aint no joke.

These the ones I use: http://amzn.to/2mzFKoQ

You're gonna wanna clean & lube your bike chain every couple hundred miles. I do it every 2 weeks. If I drive in rain or something I do it right after.

Brush: http://amzn.to/2mzBINr

Degreaser: http://amzn.to/2neRZuW

Lube: http://amzn.to/2mUoBsX

Dont be tempted to buy the plastic brush for half price. I bought two and they both disintegrated after like 2-3 uses.

You gonna also need one of these stands to clean/lube your chain. You CAN do it without this, but this makes it 100 times easier. Hit up a local harbor freight:
1000 Lb. Capacity Motorcycle Swingarm Rear Stand

This sae to usb is CLUTCH. Charges my phone under my passenger seat: http://amzn.to/2n474yN

Some ppl say get a cheap helmet, but me I wouldn't cheap out on really the only thing that will save your life in a crash. I got this Shoei: http://amzn.to/2neLTdU
Damn good lookin out on that stand you just saved me fifty bucks and I don't have to wait for shipping :salute:

@QuintessentialBM how you like the Honda so far you been ridin?

It's great. Not as bad as people made it out to be. I can't ride everyday because of work, but when my vacation comes, I'll spend all 7 days riding.

I love my motorcycle though! Should have gotten one sooner!

Ok, brehs.... I have a small problem.

I dropped a fairing bolt(actually, it was one of the seat bolts, but you get the picture) in the battery compartment of my bike and it has slid somewhere into my bike. I do want to recover that bolt, but what harm could I do to the bike if I just left it there?

I'd say don't sweat it too much. It'll either rattle out while your riding and don't notice it or it's wedge in some weird space where it'll stay. The only unlikely scenario would be that it gets somehow carried on to your chain to your front sprocket (really reaching don't see that happening it's more likely it'd bounce down the road if it hasn't already) if u can try shaking the bike side to side to get s generally area of where it is if you can hear it rattling, maybe a wire hanger in there to fish it out maybe even tape some strong magnets to it?

EDIT: funny thing is I lost a fairing bolt too in my garage a few days ago and it's been bugging me... as I typed this post I look up it under the washer lmao

Lot of terrible advice

Just trrble[/barkley]

Your first bike shouldn't be a fast sportsbike. That is like learning to drive in a Ferrari.

Take the MSF BRC. Its a beginners course that will teach you the basics on how to ride a motorcycle and let you see if you are really cut out for it (some people just aren't).

Budget for gear. Don't even look at bikes until you have a helmet, armored jacket, gloves and boots. I would get a summer jacket and just layer up when its colder.

For your first bike get a 250. If you like sport bikes get a Ninja 250 or a CBR250R. Theyre both like $4K new and literally perfect to learn on. Or if youre scared of dropping them get a used one, or a used Ninja 500 or GS500. Actually used is probably better cause then you can sell for what you pay. Ride the little 250 for a good 2 years before you upgrade. Do some track days. Practice emergency maneuvers. Learn how to ride.

People think riding a motorcycle is just buying an R1 and wheelieing out of the dealership. fukk that. shyt is life or death. But its fun as hell. I've been down twice already in 6 months of riding, both completely my fault. My bike is a little too much for me (Ninja 650). It def pays to do it right, because if you do it wrong and fukk up you might not get a second chance. But when you get it right, its worth it

I was one of those people who copped a gsxr 1000 after getting my license and I was ok.

The constant gear changing on the smaller cc bikes gets annoying. With the 1000 I mostly stay in 1st or 2nd gear.

It literally took me 2 years to get comfortable on it and I probably wouldn't recommend learning on one.

The 600 cc bikes are more than fast enough most bikes go 0-60 around 3 seconds.

All 600s are not equal. I can lug my 650 down to like 3000 rpm and still pull away nicely. Twins and triples tend to have more low end torque which makes for less shifting

Yep, I work at a Honda dealer so it's pretty easy to do any maintenance on lunch.

How do you like being a tech I'd love to make a living doing this shyt lol and did you go to a school or an apprenticeship?

With that said just picked up my first project for 300$. An '81 Yamaha xj750. Got another engine and frame and another complete motor and duplicates (at least) of every single damn part of this bike...all because my neighbor respected the fact I didn't ride like an a$$hole like everyone else around here... some real generous people out there..

I'm the parts manager for my dealership, been doing work in this industry for 16yrs. Really just fell into the motorcycle industry through a friend at a young age back on '98, been hooked ever since. No schooling.
