No, next season will be the 1st time using it. I'm expecting it to be noisy cause its a race helmet, my Shoei X-14 is noisy but ventilation is crazy good.

Arai makes some high quality helmets, I had one but I didn't keep it long. I usually replace the helmets after 3 yrs. Surprisingly peeps be buying used helmets, sold all my old joints on Ebay. Yea Astars didn't make a lot of these, they been hard to get all year. I actually want 2 more of them , one in all white, and one in black carbon.

I definitely will, this is most I've dropped on one, especially from a company that never made street helmets before.

I sold my old fairings that I had before the Red Bull kit I have now. Still got a gang of race stands, Ram mounts, etc.

I see a 2005 Suzuki gsxr near me. Not sure if it's a 600 or 750. 32,000 Miles. Clean title. Runs and rides, just need new battery. Looks like it's been dropped, fairings and frame sliders is scraped.

It's $1500. Seems low enough to be a scam. I already looked to see if it's listed in other states and it's not.

I'mma have to save up like $3500-$4000 then. Not trying to get a loan. It's not gone be brand new, that's for sure.

Dealer can't say with certainty what happened to the bike before they got it. Service centers aren't magical places that can restore a used bike into brand new condition. They fix observable problems, so if you got some shyt that's finna break or on its way out it's extremely difficult to tell beforehand and these "multi-point inspections" are only finding like I said the obvious, observable sht.


Plenty people buy used and ride just fine all the time so don't take my word as law. Just know this will be one of the first conversations you think of if you're ever laid out in the middle of the road wondering how you got there. Every time I go down I know it's 99% user error, and I can live with that.

$1500 is alarm bells for a 600 Suzuki. Just like with cars, it'll run and ride with the battery in, but it probably won't run and ride well.

If you want to rip it on the higher power bikes, I wouldn't bother with beat up bikes just because people WILL beat on them for the small pp gains. Your safety is more tied to their (mis)handling of the bike because you don't have a seatbelt, airbags, and a metal cabin to protect you.

Considering the price here, you can probably get a 300cc Scooter and have more town fun plus the storage. Unless you are speed demon, live in a more sparse area, or have more freeway necessities, a smaller engine is more ideal.

Let safety be your guide, and by being safe you can live to enjoy two wheeled transport.

I ain't getting no 300 though. And the Ninja/Honda 500/650 sound like ass.

I know the feeling. Finding decent shape CBs are a pain in the ass, plus the Honda tax.

Personally, I'll probably get some Chinese cafe racer to putter around the city with. But I can manage with that. I don't have a speed thirst or anything. I just really like riding around on two.

I know of a place that sells LiFan scooters and they're open to working on a LiFan motorcycle, if I get it. CSC has the best parts support for the Chinese ones they sell.

If I wanna use me hands learn how to wrench it myself, I'm opting for the cheapo DF250RTG. It goes by a variety of names but that is the model code more or less. It is really cheap ($2K) and is otherwise slow for most, but that is my ideal for the moment. I don't venture out too far and top speeds of 60 are more than enough for the arterial suburban roads in Chicagoland.

That being said, I still look at scooters a lot. My first motorized two wheeler was a gas scooter. They're just too good, and a lot of the non-Japanese brands are very good. SYM, Kymco, Lance, etc. They have a relatively poor dealer network in the US, but are often cheaper than the Japanese ones and tend to offer more power.

I'm probably a minority in that I don't want a pocket rocket. I want something light and efficient. I hope some of this is helpful with that context in mind.

Absolutely. I know I might end up pricing myself out, but simultaneously it is something I wanna have a crack at. The LiFan motorcycle in particular I'm fond of. The brand isn't exactly unknown. If you ever bought an engine at Harbor Freight, well LiFan makes those. In fact they used to make a lot of Honda stuff in Southeast Asia.

Anyways, I'm not quite into cruisers, but the part that gets me is I kind of got myself cornered with that. If I want lightweight, efficient, smaller, I have to go to a mini, a Cub, or stick to scooters (I don't mind). The Chinese brands offer me some leeway there in offering many styles, but you know as well I'm hoping for the lottery there.

Realistically, the parts thing and poor manuals are killer. I still look for old CBs more than anything, but I'd take a PCX or similar if I was ready to pull the trigger. I really prefer the old motorcycle look and I don't wanna buy a Royal Enfield either, but I just might.
