The ease of legal gun ownership is the only reason I envy people in the South (no shade).

I tried shooting a gun, and I got scared :(

but I am interested in carrying maybe a taser, or pepper spray...If any one would recommend any good ones I would appreciate it.

my wife has a stun gun for now.

even tho we got two pistols here, I'm gonna get her a gun of her choice when she gets her concealed carry permit in the mail.

Better get her another weapon. That stun gun isnt going to shyt but make a man angry. She cant hold it on a man long enough to drop him.

Shed be better off with a knife and education on where on a mans body it needs to be stuck, if you not tryin to give her the hammer.

Keep your finger off the trigger at all times unless you fully intend on shooting it.

Get the Foxx Labs spray. Make sure you get the stream and not the cone pattern version. If it's windy you don't want it blowing back in your face.

Never go below a 9mm, you need something with stopping power.

I would tend to agree with this for the most part. Get a compact 9mm and keep it filled with a good hollow point, self defense ammo. Compact 40's and 45's will be too hard to manage in high stress situations in which you'll probably need some follow up shots. In a subcompact gun I'd recommend a +P ammunition to compensate for decreased velocity from the shorter barrels. A 9mm with +P loads will still be very manageable and give you more reliable expansion from the hollow tips. I use Winchester Ranger T's. Speer Gold Dots are really good too.

The compact 9mm's I'd recommend are the Springfield XD9 subcompact, Springfield XDS 9mm, and the newly released Glock 23

Maybe try a lower caliber. I know some woman who scared to shoot a 12 gage shotgun, but a 22. almost feels like shooting a pellet gun.
