I’ve been getting back into running. Thankfully, I’ve been cycling and hiking for years so it hasn’t been too difficult for me. I’m doing between 8-10 miles every other day.

I’ve been using Nike Invincible 3 running shoes. Really comfortable and great for long distance running. If anyone recommends any other brand then please feel free to share.

I’ve ran about 400 miles in my Nike Invincible 3’s over the last year and they are a great shoe. I just copped some Saucony’s as another pair to compliment them.

Yeah. I was doing a lot of research into the best running shoes. It’s definitely a great choice. I’ve heard great things about Hoka too so I’ll probably cop that in edition to some Sauconys.

Competing in my first half marathon on the 27th. Only had/have four weeks to train with me wanting to race last minute. I typically run about 10-15 miles a week so running a 13.1 mile is going to be a challenge, but I surprised myself running 9 miles this past weekend and managed to maintain a sub 10 pace going faster every mile. If I can maintain a sub 10 pace all 13.1 miles I’ll feel very accomplished. If I can get close to a sub 9 or even under that would be a stretch goal. Any advice from other runners who have competed in a half marathon I’d appreciate it.

I’ve stopped the steady pace jogging & started to do HIIT instead on my route.

1 minute decent pace jog & then 30 second maximum sprint.

Fitness levels are off the chart right now.

Look at your elevation. How are you training for a half marathon and running no hills…there’s going to be some hills in that half marathon and your legs will most likely start to tighten up. You better hydrate very well

Good advice but I live in South Louisiana. We don’t have hillish terrain here. Matter of fact my city’s nick name is “The Flats” so hills are out of the equation. The course of the marathon is no different.

You'll be bouncing off the pavement. Great cushioning. The Kyrie Irving basketball shoe of running shoes.

I completed half a marathon today. I’ve surprised myself since I haven’t been running for a long time. Although, I have been cycling and doing HIIT so that may have helped.

Here are my tips:

1. Consistency is important. It’s better to run every other day, even if it’s only for 15 minutes, as opposed to running for an hour once or twice a week. Your body needs consistency to adapt, so be consistent.

2. Please please warm up. Do as many stretches as possible for at least ten minutes. I can’t stress how important this is. If you want to avoid injury, you cannot skip this step.

There are hundreds of YouTube videos on this so take your pick. I’ve never been injured or remotely sore because of this.

3. Allow your body to recover. I know it’s tempting to run everyday because it gets addicting but trust me, your body will repay you back ten fold if you allow it to rest. If you must, do some weight training or calisthenics on your rest days.

4. Keep on pushing. The first few weeks will be tough and it will seem like a struggle, but I promise, if you persist and remain consistent, you’ll look back in a few weeks in amazement.

It wasn’t easy getting back into running and I felt so far behind compared to others… but just focus on your own goals. Gradually increase your distance on each run by 10%.

5. Make sure you get the right running shoes. This can make all the difference between comfort and getting injured. Don’t be shy and go into a specialist store than will measure feet and give you the best option. Don’t be cheap when it comes to your feet.

6. Breathe correctly to avoid getting any pains in your diaphragm. Deep breaths through your nose and your mouth. No shallow breathing as tempting as it is to do short gasping breaths.

7. Have fun! If you can find a group online to run with, do it! It’s a lot more encouraging when you’re running with people at different levels. It will motivate you to get up and run.

Anything else, then just ask.

Yea, I'd run in anything else but Nike's. I developed compartment syndrome because of Nike running shoes. If you're gonna cop something then get ready to blow at least $200. I can't recommend Ultra Boost 1.0s enough. GOAT running and walking shoe. I'm slowly getting back into running but I mostly walk my 5-8 miles every other day then cycle 25-50 on others. But yea, only thing Nike makes running wise to me that's superior than other brands is running tops and bottoms.

I’ve been doing 15 miles minimum for 5 straight days. I might be addicted. :ninja2:

That runners high though. :ahh:

I need to run a marathon by next year.
