By all accounts, Jameis wasn't projected to be as great of a baseball player as he would a football player. He could potentially be an elite QB, and even if he's just slightly above average, he'll still get paid alot.

Winston stands to make waaaaaaay more than 5 years 90 mil as an NFL QB. I doubt Brady and Russell would have gotten paid as much as they did had they played baseball

Winston was projected to be a STAR in MLB. I'm just showing you if Jeff Smarzjja could make 5/yrs 90 million after having a decent season. Winston could easily get 160-170 million after his first deal.

The guys that I brought up played football and baseball. So they had a choice, and chose to play football instead.

I don't know about Stanton. But Jeter didn't play football. And A-Rod did, but he was much better at baseball than football

Jeff Samardzija
Brian Jordan (In June 1992 Jordan signed a new contract with St Louis that gave him a $1,700,000 signing bonus to give up football and play baseball exclusively, ending his football career)

One reason why people chose football though because it's easier than baseball to "master" if you're a top athelete

The problem with Pee Wee is that these shytty males who didn't make it to the NFL go out and start a team and just let kids throw themselves into each other without teaching proper technique. Then when they get hurt it's "it's apart of the game". In high school, one of the guys I grew up with was playing safety and went to tackle with his head down. fukking broke his neck and was paralyzed AS A fukkING FRESHMAN.

In the video, these two go helmet to helmet full speed and those mofo just stand around. Kid gets hit hard as shyt in the head and they ask "What's wrong?" What the fukk you mean what's wrong?

I read somewhere that a study showed that if you had kids and adults play football without helmets, it changed how they would tackle.

This is the main reason why my son will not be playing football...I've already started him on baseball and teaching him proper form and technique.

ETA: Just noticed the forum autocorrects profanity. I likes...

To everybody saying play baseball...baseball is pretty expensive sport which is another reason why mostly cacs play it. To buy equipment, batting practice at the cages, lessons it adds up. With football, all you need is just a football and you good to go.

I used to say and think this also and it's true to a certain extent. In this thread people are talking about organized sports like Pop Warner and Little League. There is a fee for both and they're around the same price, in Pop Warner you pay for a mouth piece, cup, and cleats...in baseball you pay for a cup and glove (bats are provided), you can purchase a cheap glove for the low so that argument is out the window.

Football and Basketball is more predominantly talked about in our African American neighborhoods. How many times have you seen fundraising for basketball or football teams in your neighborhood? I get someone asking me for donations outside of grocery stores and shyt at least four times a week and it's always basketball or football. What sports do our rappers and entertainers talk about? There is no interest in baseball because it's not put out there like that.

Not disputing that our youngins can't just get up and play baseball like they can other sports because it does take more on the pick up level but I think everyone here is talking about organized sports. I for one would steer my kids away from football (it's their decision at the end of the day) but if they said "pop we bout to go outside and play football" I ain't bout to be like :camby:

Out here in my damn drawls
I see alot of people talking about pysical injuries and accidents in regards to other sports, but we're talking about brain injuries.

Yeah, a race car driver crashes and probably dies, but these guys have to live with the pain and memory loss in the prime of their lives throughout old age

Same here. It's something they would want. My oldest son is brolic as fukk for his age and he keeps begging to play ball but my ex wife and I keep passing the buck back and forth to each other on allowing him too.

I can speak from personal experience (no @Ronnie Lott ) playinf Div I, arena and semi pro ball on what football has done to my body, and I didn't play nearly at the level Antwan played. Nothing "soft" about diving into your own REAL experience (again...no @Ronnie Lott ) and coming to an understanding as to why someone wouldn't want their child to experience the aftermath that comes with it

Really breh...Most of those people died from heart failure. That means that they're playing too long or they have health issues that they're covering up. :camby:

I really dont get it, I love boxing but you damn sure wont catch me taking my son or nephews to a gym with hopes of them becoming boxers. You gotta be a real shyt parent to steer your son to a sport where they've found early brain damage in dead high school Handeggers :scust:

Basketball
Baseball
The REAL football

Those are the holy trinity, keep them brain cells in tact.

To be fair there's research that suggest football and baseball can cause CTE as well. Obviously ots not the same oas thre Gridiron, but two of those sports can be dangerous. The only full proof is basketball.

Okay, but I have no idea why not teaching your son to play baseball would make you a c00n. It's like you nikkas just made your own meaning of the word on here.

How about encouraging your kid to be a doctor or engineer, something that's way more realistic to achieve and helpful to the world?
Hold up. You really think it's either or?

Like when you see a kid playing ball you automatically indict that parent as not wanting other things for their kids besides playing football? :snoop:

I can't with this nonsense

technique probably has something to do with it.. nfl players, for the most part, know how to hit and get hit.

the level of medical attention is another. pros are looked after by high trained medical staff with state of the art equipment right in the locker room. a lot of high schools don't even have a full time trainer.

if an nfl player has a heart condition, the team doctors will know right away. if a high school kid has a heart condition, he could be out there in august doing two a days till he collapses.

Full time trainer? My school barely had student trainers.
