He's way too big an icon for just a movie. Even if it was as long as that Avatar sequel I didn't bother to go see it wouldn't be nearly enough.

Above the fray.
Not only that they gonna make sure and show Michael in a bad light highlighting the allegations, pain killing addiction, plastic surgery issues and etc.

Add with his child hood....shyt gonna be black pathology porn.... :snoop:
I 100% agree. And am not fan of the term "warts and all" as applied to biopic. Didn't even know what the term meant until I read a reviewer explain that it described films that include controversial parts of a celeb's life.
I think that's a copout and lazy filmmaking.Director or producers highlight and embellish controversy for dramatic effect.

The flipside of that is when filmmakers show respect to the life of the celeb, and stay clear of sensationalism and negativity. Unfortunately, when they show that level of respect, it's a good project that flops. The Aretha Franklin movie is an example. The screenwriter was a local Jersey woman, and she said she refused to dirty up/cheapen the story. She and the director stood their ground and made the film they wanted to make.

The Elvis film cacs were going crazy over didn't smear him with the stuff he did so why would Fuqua do it to a Black icon? :mjpls:

He's been around long enough to know that cacs are relentless in their anti-Blackness.

Michael Jackson: The Magic & The Madness

By J. Randy Taraborrelli

I first read it when I was 12. A few years before his death the author expanded it. Its a great read, especially dealing with the early days of the Jackson 5 and the hustle Joe had to get them to the point where when they signed to Motown how Berry Gordy and everyone on staff was amazed at the maturity and media awareness all 5 brothers already possessed. Joe was an a$$hole. Joe wasn’t the best father on a personal tip. Joe was a womanizer who paraded groupies around his sons while their mother was at home. But Joe is THE reason why Michael Jackson became Michael Jackson outside of his God given talent. Joe taught Michael the BUSINESS of music.

Elvis just got a decent film. So MJ needs at least another 10-15 years before a biopic. Elvis didn’t get famous until he was an adult. MJ was famous since he was a kid.

I bet they’ll try an MJ and Lisa Marie Lifetime movie.

I saw the Elvis movie and thought they left out too much stuff. I was underwhelmed by the Elvis movie even though Butler did a great job. I don't want this movie to do the same for Michael Jackson.

Spike reveres Michael immensely. His Bad 25 interview was great.

Like Malcolm X, I think he would have done great given his passion about the individual, but I'm interested in this nonetheless. MJ is the greatest to ever do it in my eyes and for better -- and worse -- was as captivating a figure off the stage as he was on it. More so than any other celebrity that's ever lived. It'll be nearly impossible for them to top the Jackson 5: American Dream epic, but I'll be front & center as they try. :ehh:

The abc Jackson family American dream series will always stand as thee Michael/the Jackson’s story
Exactly....ain't nobody gonna play Joe Jackson better than Lawrence Hilton Jacobs. Had them kids shook for even LOOKING at his guitar wrong....maybe get that light skint breh Basie Skanks from Greenleaf and Raising Kanan.

The actor Wylie Draper (RIP) played young adult MJ better than anyone ever could. MJ wanted him to play him.

Joe Jackson fukking around, having the boys smash those different broads on the road, the Motown shyt with Berry Gordy and his daughter (think one of MJ's bros married her).....the family itself is too interesting to just focus on MJ. Cannot capture that shyt in 2hrs. You need more like 4 hrs MINIMUM. Plus all the songs...gotta get those in there.

That's just late 60s to his 80s peak. The life starting after the Halftime Show in Super Bowl 27, is its own 2nd Act.

You need strong supporting actors that look like the family and Motown folks and a strong but relatively unknown actor to play MJ.

Knowing Hollywood, they'll have one of these two cats playing MJ and I like em both as actors :lolbron::

I honestly wish they would talk about the controversial aspects so that they can clear up the rumors and false accusations. Show MJ wanting to take them lying cacs to court. Show that his lawyers told him he'd loose even more money from canceling the remaining shows of his concert. The Jacksons: The American Dream will always be the GOAT MJ movie tho. I remember when it first released as a 2 part series on ABC back in 92.
