The Lakers mortgaged their future to win now, and that's cool it seems to be working out for them.

When LeBron slows down and AD is the man in another year or so good luck getting young talent around him. You going to be banking on him staying healthy and hitting it big again in free agency.

It should also be noted that the Lakers haven't won the championship yet although they are the favorites as they should be.

Well, firstly, what future did they mortgage? I know people don't think that Ingram and Ball will be a pivotal part of anyone winning a title? Picks? Lakers aint never really drafted well outside of a few people.

You don't think people won't be lining up to play with AD in freaking LA of all places when Bron is done? Especially if they win a chip?

But you're right, if they don't win a chip, none of it matters but it works vice versa too. But they are for sure the heavy favorites and will probably be in it again next year too which would not be the case with them trash ass youngins.

I wonder if the Pelicans would have taken Kuzma in place of Ingram. I remember at the time the thought was Kuzma was better.

People talking about they mortgaged their future...based on what

In basketball you push your chips in on when you think you have a chance......Oklahoma City had great players on the roster...shytloads of picks and what do they have to show for it.

Boston has had a lot of picks.....what do they have to show for it....some ECFs sure...but no finals.. And getting back to the ECF might be even harder for them next year.

The Clippers gave away the farm for Kawhi and PG and cant even get out Round 2...and deteriorating health and roster churn is going to be a thing for them going forward.

The Pelicans had a playoff spot manufactured for them in the bubble and they couldnt even not fukk that up. ZION HAS TO PROVE he can stay on the court and remain healthy.

All of this future talk is pointless. You play in the 2-3 year time horizon in the NBA. that 5 years and on notion is a pipe dream

the lakers still raped themselves they gave up much more than any other team would have...

it may not be of concern this season or next. But it will be eventually. Especially considering they overbid against themselves.

Rape would imply one team coming out on top over the other, taking advantage of an inferior franchise, etc. Ask yourself, do you feel like the Pelicans trajectory is even anywhere near what the Lakers is? Even if you wanna play semantics & space it out 3 or so years. Pelicans making a WCF let alone a Finals?

If anything, Pelicans got raped:mjlol:

The amount players and assets the lakers gave up to get AD who basically made it known he was only going there was too much...when considering I don’t think anyone else was even going after him that hard.

the pelicans had to trade him he was gone.

A championship now is worth 100x maybe a championship in the future. When LeBron leaves, the Lakers are still the Lakers and they will attract talent to put around AD.

I’d rather win one chip right now than wait ten years for some “young talent” to develop and not have any titles.
Besides the warriors, what team has drafted and won a chip with their top three talents? It’s always about trades and free agents
No team keeps top 3 talents together. None.

The Spurs and Dallas of the early decade won with a nucleus that had been together for a minute. Before then, the Kobe and Pau Lakers had won with a nucleus that had been together too. Pau and Artest were brought in but the rest of those players were Laker guys.

I wonder if the Pelicans would have taken Kuzma in place of Ingram. I remember at the time the thought was Kuzma was better.
No we wouldn't have the Lakers tried it.

How did the Pelican's get raped when AD was coming there in another year or so anyway?
:mjlol:

Y'all had to have him now with an aging LeBron and y'all gave up young talent to get him. Young talent that would be helping you right now.

As for the Lakers trajectory, the Lakers have LeBron James one of the 3 best players to ever pick up a basketball in my opinion of course the trajectory is going to be different when you pair him with another top 5 player currently in the league. You can't compare that to a team of rookies and second and third year guys.

I'm not sure what happens in 3 years but I know the Lakers were trash 3 years ago so anything is possible. Obviously, we aren't the free agent destination that Los Angeles is, but LA is banking of brittle AD to be the man the next 7-8 years.

We'll see how that works out. If I'm wrong I'll gladly come back and tell you I was wrong.

Right now y'all are doing what you are supposed to do I'll judge who got the better of this on 4-5 years when those young bucks in my team either sink or swim.

And if they get a title out of it and NO doesn’t get one it won’t matter how much they gave up. They will have won the trade
