I think its a good chance. Take a chance on getting AD or wait til KP is healthy then have to match offer sheets? we have seen flashes but we dont know who good KP is going to be. if you can get AD w/o giving up that pick, then hell yeah KP is as good as traded.

First of all if you trade for AD that 1st round pick is gonna fall and they won't get Zion/RJ. Second the purpose of trading for AD would be to create a contending team in NY, it'd make little sense to trade KP then and bank your hopes on landing KD/Kyrie/Kawhi in the summer. AD is leaving the Pels to compete for a championship, he has no reason to stay in NY if that doesn't seem likely.

They did it to Marbury and their doing it to Melo
Melo is a bench player who can be cut at any time he has no grounds in a Grievance case which is why you don't hear him complaining .... He is not at all comparable to a perinnial all star in his prime being forced to DNP's without cause

Starbury was actually suspended by the knicks for conduct detrimental to the team because HE allegedly didn't want to go into a game when he was called upon... so 1.they had cause 2.they were holding buyout negotiations because he no longer wanted to be around D'Antoni... AD is the opposite as He has already told his coach he intends to finish out the season

If they sat him without cause it would go to arbitration and they would lose... It would also be a terrible stain on their organizational professionalism... Especially if AD was in the media everyday giving "updates"

Not a good idea from any perspective.....

Boston is automatically out because they'd have to trade Kyrie if they want AD now (Rose Rule) so that makes no sense for them.

Knicks have assets too but if they trade Knox and 2019 1st they're risking it all on getting KD/Kyrie/Kawhi in FA so they can have a big 3 in NY. If they don't, AD is gone because Knicks won't have a competitive roster and it'd be the same situation as New Orleans. They're also tanking right now so it'd be weird to shift gears mid-season. So I don't expect the Knicks to offer that great a package, maybe just Frank + Robinson + 1st rd picks years down the line + filler

Evaluating the options then, the Pels have to consider whether they want to rebuild or keep a solid team like the Clippers. If they want a complete rebuild, the only 2 teams that can offer good rebuild packages (they'd also be dealing Jrue somewhere else):

12 mil in cap relief and 3 of Ball/Ingram/Kuzma/Hart/Zubac/1st rd pick is hands down the best rebuild package they can get

+ Sixers throw in a 1st rd pick

12 mil in cap relief + Fultz + a rookie 1st-rounder in Zhaire + a 1st rd pick isn't bad but Lakers can easily beat that out. Which is why Sixers might have to go this route:

+ Sixers throw in a 1st rounder. This gives Pels a star player and a lot of cap flexibility as well as solid young pieces (sophomore no. 1 pick and a rookie 1st-rounder)

Raps can also offer

+ Raps 1st-round pick, but Lakers can easily beat that if they wanted to

Bucks, Houston, OKC, and Spurs would then all be offering pieces that keeps the Pels afloat with Jrue in the picture

Kristaps aint getting traded, and if he is he definitely won't be coupled with this year's pick fukk that. That would be shades of the Melo trade all over again. shyt I bet AD would give the thumbs down to any trade involving Kristaps too, if he wants to come to NY then its likely KP is a big reason why. KP is the type of player anybody would love to play with.

4 consecutive trips to the finals for Bosh and Love( 3 Championships)

Be a champion is a bad thing now?

Bosh was a scapegoat and became a role player who strictly shot jump shots. If it wasn’t for a championship saving rebound you wouldn’t even know he was on the team.

Same for Love. He was a scapegoat and now he’s the cornerstone of the worst team in the NBA.

The Lakers with Lebron and Anthony Davis aren’t winning a title and guess who they’ll blame for that?

Pistons don't wanna trade for AD. AD is leaving the Pels to go compete for a championship, Detroit is lightyears away from that even with AD. And even if he re-signs, your cap is tied up in AD/Drummond so the team will still be trash. You can get a much smarter yield for Blake somewhere else

Lol, he is a RFA. Nothing is stopping him from signing the qualifying offer and fukking up the Pels where they can't even trade him. Zero chance.

who's to say that NYK wants to hold on the KP for sure when they are eyeing other top FA's and they bag AD? sure, they need to get KP in uniform and see how he looks but KP is getting paid regardless. the knicks need to worry about having enough money for AD and hopefully Kyrie/KD and keeping that pick. I see what you are saying but if NYK dont want to come up off of that pick or protect it then what can you do? AD's days in NO are over, thats for certain.
