This.

The Pelicans gotta be looking at it like... yall nikkas ain't win shyt with this squad, but you want to dump your trash on us and call it gold? If they can't win with them and are so eager to give them up, why do we want them when we have 1 1/2 years with our generational talent.

If I'm the Pelicans, I'm not considering that offer for even a second.
If advise you to take a look at Deangelo Russell..... Not having the foresight to understand young players develop is usually not a good sign..... The pelicans "haven't won shyt" with their "generational talent either" so that's a flawed arguement

True, they haven't won shyt, chances are good they will continue to not win shyt. I ain't here to cape for either team, I'm looking at it from the perspective of a decision maker in NO. Why would I want to make that trade? Why is it that the Lakers feel better off keeping one player instead of this core of young players with all this potential? This foresight thing works both ways.

I'm not sure your stance or if you are playing devils advocate. But if you clamor for the potential, so be it, we disagree because I agree with the NO front office here. And I'm definitely not interested in debating over two teams I have no rooting interest for.

Most of the players they're offering either already said they don't want to play here, got cut from the pels in the past 2 years, overrated or simply just not good enough for this kind of trade. People are tripping on the draft pick demands but if you think about it the Lakers won't have a top 15 draft pick. Its not like they're giving away guaranteed top 5 picks. They'll be at the top of the West so those picks will be late 1st round anyway

The pels played it right so far. Try to get everything you can bc they know Lakers would give everything to get a deal done before the trade deadline. Magic is still willing to deal even after these demands. Magic throwing everything in for AD sets the bar high for other teams now. They weren't gonna trade him this week anyway. All they did was drive the price up. They need to play it smart in the off season tho and dell demps is a fukking idiot so give him time to really fukk this up bc he will somehow
Good point about the draft picks. That said: Lakers were #4 with this core + Bron. So we’re betting that replacing the core with lesser players but having AD (who is still unproven in the Playoffs - but the same goes for the current core) would be better than that #4 seed team.

If the idea is to say “fukk it” and let’s just get AD to attracy a 3rd star for next season.. ok!

But if you’re higher in the conference you won’t get a Lonzo, Kuz or Ingram again... So somehow this gap needs filling.

You may be right that the Pels are playing the “let’s drive the price up in this market” but they can also end up shooting themselves in the foot > if they state that they basically want an entire team in return for AD they may find that only few teams will want to deal with them - and they need to move AD before the deadline because his motivation/engagement level will be 0 the rest of the season and he’ll definitely not return in free agency.
