Antebellum (Starring Janelle Monáe) 2020 Movie

If you told me last week after seeing The New Mutants that I would see an even worse film in theaters this quickly I would have called you crazy. Then this film happened and it's easily the worst piece of shyt of the year by far.

Whether it's the fact that the filmmakers seemingly had only half an idea and somehow managed to turn it into something less, or the insulting crudeness in which it uses slavery as disaster porn, it's the lowest form of filmmaking.

Essentially a three scene film amateurishly padded to feature length with dull scenes that occasionally try to reach into black culture with buzz words taken from TLR, it takes what is a controversial subject at best and mishandles it in the worst way possible. It is a film that never reflects on anything, least of all how rotten its concept is to the core. The whole disastrous affair somehow manages to evoke nothing as it stumbles into an ending that feels entirely like a happenstance rather than a pay-off to anything.
