I don’t care what genre

No artist is going to make their career defining work in the twilight of their career

Your best shyt will typically come when you’re not as self aware

Rap is uniquely qualified to be offended at any hint of Peter Pan syndrome

The hurt feelings that conversation would cause lol

U gotta stop defending this nikka goofy ass takes. 3K is annoying af.
He isn't telling anyone else what to do or what music to listen to

What's annoying is yall getting your panties in a twist cause he doesn't want to make a rap album. Hes been saying the same shyt since 1998 but yall wanna be fake outraged like you dont understand what hes saying:unimpressed:

LOL people talking about Andre needs to admit he has an age complex, breh literally made a song called "Chronomentrophobia" talking about the fear of time/fear of clocks. "Bu, bu we didn't listen to Idlewild" and the same people be the ones mad about why he doesn't rap/make albums. He raps on that song by the way.
Same nikkas talking shyt in the thread were just shytting on the new snoop and dre album last week :unimpressed:

Andre understand these hoe nikkas will bytch no matter what you do, and he chooses to make the music he wants to make. But let's hear more opinions from the peanut gallery who haven't done half of what's he's done in music :unimpressed:

Neither he nor any of these nikkas are above reproach.
That's not the point breh :comeon:

Yall tryna coach a man whose been in the business since the early 90's

If he says he's done all he can with rap, I think it's best to believe him

Cause yall would be the first to tell him he fell off if he forced himself to put shyt our that he didn't really believe in

I don't think he's criticizing the quality of the music being put out by older artists. How I understand it is he's saying that he's looking for is something that sounds new in the sense that it's a new style of rapping, production, etc. And he's looking for that among younger rappers because that's what young rappers have done forever : push the game forward, innovate, experiment new things, create new lanes, etc. He mentionned LL, and Nas, Killer Mike, Meth, Redman all put out high quality music, but you kind of know what you can look forward to with them. IMO he's chasing that kind of excitement you get whne you discover an artist and find out he's dope, that's basically the high you often got as a kid/a teenager because you're discovering everything. With older artists that excitement is not as strong because you know their style, their body of work, etc. Maybe also since he appears to be detaching himself from his old style and persona, he's also detaching himself from rappers who were part of that era too. Kind of a "new beginning" thing. I haven't seen the other stuff he said on this subject so I might not be aware of his whole stance though.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was 50 when he started painting the Mona Lisa. It was his “25th” painting and he sporadically worked on it from 1502 to 1516.

Age is something in your mind. It's been made up by humans to count years and keep track of time. Some people let it affect them way too much like Andre. There's been plenty of artists that did their best work when they got older

Respect his opinion. Would have liked to hear the direct question or comment from the podcasters that he was responding too, though.

I feel the opposite as a day 1 fan of recorded hip hop music. As the years and decades have gone by, it's harder to find original flows, rap patterns, topics, and ideas in hip hop.

Facts. I have to be honest and wonder how much of that is related to me getting older though. That being said, I really do think there was more creativity and diversity around the so-called "blog era" for example. I wonder how much is due to technology. At the moment the internet was still kind of growing and everything seemed more open in a sense, whereas now the game seems too "established" and strangely conservative, as in being kind of repetitive.

Was that about age or just because the album was weak? Cuz a bunch of old nikkas been getting props for dope projects, including snoop for albums like Bush which was him doing grown man rap right

There are certain artist that are exempt from the age thing. Jay Z is one of them. If Jay dropped an album tomorrow, everyone including Andre is checking for it. He's another one of those artist. Often times it feels like he has a superiority complex when it comes to rap.
