Disagree. I'd rather hear the youngins create a new genre altogether than be doing the same stuff the OGs were doing. Rap is largely a gen x millenial (a few boomers too) musical genre. Which is why anyone who's anyone is from those generations. Kendrick is probably the last rap superstar we'll have and he's about to be 40 soon.

Coli being a :flabbynsick: place, this won't be accepted of course :pachaha:

The Coli is wild, but that whole sh*t he just said was dumb AF, lol.

Vibes, energy, whatever he wants to call it, is not an age thing. You can hear a song and just listen to it, and decide whether you like it or not. You don’t know how old the artist is. You just like the song. His rationale is that there's an "energy" that young people have that older artists don’t. And that's just bullsh*t.

Either the art is good or it isn't. No true fan is gonna check for the age of someone before they give it credence. When I was a kid, I thought Rakim was like 40 because his content was mad mature to me, lol. Dude was barely out of high school. I didn't care that he seemed older than other rappers. Dude was just dope. This ageism thing is a new thing where we start speaking about how old artists are, rather than how talented or good they are, and that's f*cking up the game for a lot of OG's. And ever since 3000 started feeling washed, he's been pushing this narrative. And as usual, people start trying to flip his stupidity as "wisdom" because he's the one saying it. Nah. He's a fool.

Andre 3000 has some weird aversion to old age.

When Key and Peele depicted this man as Peter Pan they were spot on.

"I never want to grow up!" ass nikka.

We won't agree

Certain vibes are exclusive to the youth:yeshrug:

Age is not just a number

All good. But I haven't seen one yet.

"Vibes" are about as subjective as "good" or "bad".

So none of what dude just said makes any sense. He's spent years trying to pad his own excuses for why he's washed. And he's using the age thing to cover up why he feels he's trash at creating now. It's corny.

Let's say its subjective. If that's the case, how can you say next that it does not make sense?

You and him just have different sensibilities. His sensibility, perception is tied to the youth, yours is not. There is THEREFORE no reason to argue. No one is right, no one is wrong. He's right in his pertception and you right in your perception.

Don't get mad at him

Don't get mad at him

I don’t think anyone's mad at him. I do think people just see through his bullsh*t now.

Another example. He said he was "done" with rapping a few years ago because he "ran out of things to say". Same year, he had like 7-8 features. He didn't run out of anything to say, he just doesn't feel confident in recording a solo because he knows it won't meet expectations. The problem with 3000, is that he's not honest about that. Just say you don’t think you can make that classic today. People would understand.

Instead, he's going on these age-related rants to try and shield what his issue really is. He's insecure about his ability to do what he used to do. That's fine. But don’t front and make it about things that don’t even exist. The pretending is what makes this corny. Just say "I feel old now and I don’t know if I can do this at the level people want me to". That's respectable.

But there are plenty of OG's dropping mad music and literally doing what he claimed older rappers aren't able to. Nas, Common, LL, Cube, Big Boi, Snoop, Rakim, KRS, G Rap, etc. haven't run out of things to say. All of the legends are still creating. He should just say that he ain't got it no more. Don’t make it about age because we see that that's not even remotely close to being true.

"The south got something to say!" Andre 3000 at the 95 source awards.

Fast forward 2024 going into 2025

"I ain't got shyt to say."

Meanwhile NY and West Coast old head rappers still rapping in their old age snoop, nas, etc.

:wow:
Andre was 20 in 1995.

You know when he was young and fresh? You're essentially making his argument for him.
