I know the Jay stans will be upset but we have to address this. First of all we have to stop throwing out the term "classic" everytime we like something. SMH @ nikkas calling Food & Liquor 2 "classic" it hasnt even dropped retail yet. But about The BP, why is this album considered classic? I hear a very solid Jay album with soul production for the first time in his career. Izzo is a recognizable single. The album flows great. Lyrics on point. But classic? What impact did it have on rap? How did it change the game? Reasonable Doubt is far more of a classic than BP. Hola Hovito is trash and Jigga That nikka doesnt fit. The rest is solid. I'll give it 4/5 but cant call this one a classic because it had no impact. There's actually a lot of albums considered "classic" that really arent. There's a difference between personal classic and hip-hop classic.

EDIT: Was Reasonable Doubt considered classic when it dropped? Wu Biggie and Nas already had the mafia drug lord image on lock. Jay was following his big homey Biggie. But Reasonable Doubt is way better than BP.

More Nas vs Jay. I know that's not what the OP is insinuating, but that's how it's gonna end...

eh, no.

thats why it's overrated. it was carried by production. jay probably rapped better on all his albums than he did on the bp. especially rd, v1, ba, and ag.

Lyricism on RD >>>>>> BP. I just dont see how BP is anything more than a solid album.
