Yeah it's all a little confusing. I just went with the cheapest option for now. If I still have more questions then I'll explore the others. Akan/Igbo gave a solid recommendation so I'll roll with that.
Where u get that test?I took the test and it was interesting stuff. The test that I took was from Ancestry and it cost me about $100.00. It was autosomal. I learned that I am about 86% African, with about 38% of my DNA coming from Cameroon and the Congo. About 32% is from Ghana and the Ivory Coast. About 7% from Nigeria; 3% from Togo/Benin; 3% from Mali; 2% from Senegal. The rest was European and Polynesian.
You can Gedmatch your results and get a clearer idea of what particular ethnic groups in those countries you come from. A more comprehensive test is provided by African Ancestry, wherein they test your maternal and paternal lines. I have not taken that test yet, because it almost $600.00, but I plan to do it later this Summer.
I think that the testing is really interesting and it was really interesting reading up on some of the ethnic groups that I am related to.

Just got my results back
My Parents are from the Island of Dominica. On my mother's side is where I'm guessing the 1% European (Greece/Italy) seeing that I carry an Italian Surname but my pops told me his pops was Mulatto? My family has been in Dominica, at least since the 1700s, with Scottish ancestry in Trinidad, Jamaica and Dominica(Father's linage).

not sure if you meant to write a post?
I think that the science is absolutely real; after all they locking people up every day and taking ends from baby daddy's all over the country by using this stuff. In an a a very unscientific way I realized the science was legit when I did the Gedmatch of the Ancestry results. Gedmatch kept pointing to me being partially Bamoun (also know as Bamum) people, who are an Islamic people in Cameroon; that are related to the Tikar people. While doing some research on the Bamoun people I came across a picture of this lady:
Her name is MomaMfon Rabiatou NJOYA and she is Bamoun. I did a double take when I saw this picture, because this lady's profile is a spot on match for my deceased maternal grandmother. She also looks very similar to my older sister. Not scientific at all, but I think the science is right.
The palace is pretty nice. I have been there few times and Bamum history is very rich. They had a writing system, but Bamum schools were destroyed by French colonials.I made one mistake about this lady's title. She is actually a princess of the people of Bamoun. Her brother is the King.

What website did you take your ancestry thing on?Also be advised that if you take the Ancestry test; be ready for some deep family shyt if you accept the Ancestry question about showing your cousins. You are going to learn of cousins that you never knew; some as close as 2nd or 3rd and some as far away as 5th-8th. It freaked me out to see so many old yellowed haired white women from England being my distant cousins.
