Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
You just stated what I said. In America Xbox is right behind Sony. The sales is not a drastic different to the point it’s a route. When you add globally that’s when they get destroyed. Again Sony is a casual box. Those hardware sales don’t mean shyt when you don’t have the money to show for it. Their management is so bad that the report from Japan a day ago stated that they might have to go the cheap route on the next console.

Microsoft gamers are more loyal than Sony. Yall didn’t buy Last of Us Yall didn’t buy VR1 VR2 yall not buying PlayStation Remote Yall not buying Days Gone etc… Sony knows this.

Whereas Microsoft fans are so loyal Gamepass is the service to follow for future competitors… Microsoft fed off the PC community Microsoft fanboys allowed Xbox Live to grow to a level that change gaming.

Sony is a casual box with casual fanboys. Scream sales but your gaming division is struggling.
This is dumb because besides the 360, which lost in the end too, Sony has been outselling MS consoles the entire time since the PS1 release..

Bad management has nothing to do with the loyalty of Playstation buyers, who have been down for 5 damn generations of consoles

I’m a Xbot so I have obvious bias but I think MS is making the right move here. Consoles will largely be a thing of the past. I’m not the biggest fan of never owning in my life because it sounds like a corporate dystopia, but I digress.

Cloud gaming is the future. Mobile, PC gaming market is huge. And not only that, think of all the VR devices coming out. I expect Apples Vision Pro to push that more into the mainstream. You can already play it on an iPhone and a Meta Quest…MS just a little under a month ago announced 100s of games being available via beta on XCloud…it’s the first Meta Quest VR headset to my knowledge that has this capability. That kind of immersion will be hard to beat…And people will be able to choose whatever vendor they want for their VR headset.

I think further down the line as well, AI will be a big part in gaming, and easier given MS relationship with OpenAI. They also already have massive cloud infrastructure in place, in house. For the time being and the foreseeable future you need a pretty big GPU to run any AI/ML models. More than your average consumer can afford and getting a high end GPU for MSRP is impossible. If everything is in the cloud, MS just needs to connect to the XCloud server farm (gross over generalization for simplicities sake) a bunch of AI models. The possibilities are endless…virtually limitless variety in dialogue, people never experiencing exactly the same world as other people (kind of like Starfield NG+ is), side quests randomly made by AI for you that someone else might never encounter…

They’re going to drain all their titles slowly by releasing them on other consoles because they can’t just pull the plug now because it’d piss your average gamer off and they’re not quite ready to make such a pivot, it will (is) happening incrementally

The only move MS can make is just go multi plat

can't buy up everything just to put it on game pass...

streaming services always plateau

Consoles will largely be a thing of the past.

We’ve been hearing about this for years and the consoles keep breaking sales records both in hardware and software.

The only console that’s a thing of the past is the Xbox

XCloud hasn’t been out for that long, and the majority of the time it’s been out, it wasn’t stable enough to be a 1st choice for cloud gaming. It wasn’t until the last year or year and a half it was usable. And like I mentioned before, it wasn’t until a month ago that XCloud was on a VR headset…and MS is in bed with OpenAI. MS is throwing AI at everything including their OS. This isn’t the same era as before.

If their pivot to the cloud (GTA 6 on a VR headset sounds nice though) is a failure, I’ll go play games on a PlayStation, it’s not that serious. If their pivoting away from consoles is successful, Sony is going to be playing catch up.
