I love how Dems use overturning Roe as a scare tactic when the court has been majority republican-appointed virtually the entire time since Roe:russ: and the case was decided when the republican-appointed court was 7-2 in their favor:mjlol:

A. abortion was not a partisan issue until the Moral Majority re-alignment of evangelical christians in the late 70s. even Nixon is on tape saying abortion is necessary sometimes. both parties up until that point had pro-choice and pro-life wings. so the threat of republican-appointed judges overturning it was not present until at least the 80s

B. pro-choice activists have gotten lucky because republican-nominated justices have often drifted to the left (like Blackmun, Stevens, Souter, Kennedy) to different degrees. republicans in general have had far more SCOTUS picks since Nixons election (15 to 4) so the only reason the court hasn't been more right-wing is due to ideological drift and the presence of crucial swing votes. the swing votes right now are Roberts and Kavanaugh who are much more conservative than previous swings like Kennedy or O’Connor on social issues

:ohhh:So this is how the fear is rationalized... you've just gotten lucky all this time and they are coming for abortion if they get control today.:pachaha:
Replace abortion with guns in the above sentence :mjlol:Different toilet same shyt.

The supreme court has been fine, and there has been no evidence to suggest otherwise in the many threads decrying barret. Reform suggestions are just dems crying over nothing.

She's getting in there.....but Kamala showed her ass. I don't know how anybody could want her to be in the White House.

How did she show her ass? I didn't see it.

Trying to dismiss the lady and her comments. Cutting her off while she was talking. Doing what most politicians do, trying to make it appear to the viewer the way she wants it to appear. This lady is obviously qualified to be up there. Democrats just trying to stall because they weren't able to pick the person they wanted to replace Ginsberg. Should have made her step down when Obama was in there if that's what they wanted. :yeshrug: but Ginsberg thought Hillary was getting into office so she tried to stick it out and got caught.

this isn't an unpopular or uncommon viewpoint. even ted cruz agrees with me.

“Republicans, we bat about .500,” Cruz continued. “About half of Republican Supreme Court justices actually honor their oath to defend the Constitution. The other half are screaming trainwreck disasters. Earl Warren was a Republican nominee. Bill Brennan was a Republican nominee. John Paul Stevens, David Souter, Harry Blackmun, who authored Roe vs. Wade was a Republican nominee.”

since Souter Republicans have been much more adamant about appointing the most conservative justices possible. the process of appointing SCOTUS justices has just changed in general in a way that i dont think you appreciate or understand. whether a justice is conservative or liberal is much more important to their confirmation today than it was even in the 90s, and drastically more so than it was in the 50s when republicans appointed judges like Earl Warren.

Agreed, but what evidence is there that the court is in need of reform? what series of decision in the last 4 years justifies this level of panic?
What decisions/dissents make you believe Roe, civil rights, or gay marriage are in jeopardy?

I fear congress pushing through a restructuring of the court on a strictly partisan vote, giving Americans a Supreme Court that looks unlike anything they grew up with, and unlike the institution we’ve had for more than 240 years will destroy the legitimacy of the court...
Turning it into a true extension of whoever controls the senate.
Rethugs could run on "setting things right" next cycle and really f*ck the country.:mjcry:
