Whats wrong with us moving to a section of the country where we have our numbers up?

Where we can own more property and businesses on average. and can then use that clout to dictate politics and local government?

Cities like ATL and Charlotte should be a blueprint for more cities.

Yep. And not only that but even cities like Cleveland and Detroit are black but the job opportunities and resources are not their like atl, Charlotte and Dallas.

I know a lot of people that own small black business and they are reliant upon black people. My sister is an accountant in my hometown. All of her clients are black. My cousin is a lawyer. All of his clients are black. My uncle is a contractor. All that he does is build homes and make home repairs for black people.

Our folks used to only go to White lawyers, accountants and contractors. The fact that they are now using their own folks is good a thing. I don't understand why people don't understand that. We are not all barbers, beauticians and soul food restaurant owners; although those are great too. We have to start somewhere.

Great points. Folks really miss the boat when it comes to small businesses and how they can change the dynamics of a community and often times change policy as well. Also folks act like small businesses do not grow or those folks don't reinvest that money. This has a lot to do with folks not really really with black folks who own businesses.

Let me give you three quick examples. My college buddy has a father that at one time was the richest man in his small home town. My boys father worked for years as an engineer then put his money together and opened a restaurant and a barber shop. He them took that money he made and sold the barber shop and restaurant and opened a manufacturing plant in the town. The manufacturing plant grew over the years and eventually employed the most people in the small town. Now if my boys father would have never opened his restaurant and barber shop he would have never been able to start his manufacturing plant.

Second example is an older sista who my parents know. She graduated from college then worked in corporate America. She saved her money and started a catering business. Saved the money from that business and opened a day care center. Grew the day care center (employed nothing but black folks) then bought homes in the south side of Chicago. Ended up with 25 homes as rental properties. Then sold the day care center and the 25 homes and bought a high rise apartment building selling all the condos in that building. The building at one time was worth over 15 mill. Now this sista employs only black folks as security at her high rise, the door men are black. Her real estate company workers are black, her electrician is black and her contractors are black.

Third example. An old dude who was once a teacher (actually taught my dad) did 20 years as a teacher and started to buy up property in Chicago. He would buy up foreclosures during bad economic times. So much so that he owned over 40 properties that he rented out. At one time he owned every building on two blocks. He was so good with his money that he reinvested the money he made in a trucking business (which he owned 10 trucks and had nothing but black employees) and owned two McDonalds.

Not only that but because he was known to work with the alderman in his area (also donated during his campaigns) he was able to help the blocks his properties were own to be cleaned out when drug dealers and gangs were fukking with his renters.

Sadly the old man had to sell his properties due to his wife dying and his bad health. Last I heard from my dad he is like 83 and living in Florida now.

But right there that is 3 examples of black folks who took small so called mom and pop businesses and were able to reinvest that money and place it in other businesses helping them grow and having a greater impact on their communities.

:salute:

Its a shame how much people are devaluing the benefits of black businesses compared to other roles that can go against white supremacy.

Its a shame how much people are devaluing how needed black businesses are compared to other roles that can go against white supremacy.

Absolutely breh. Kats aren't plugged into folks so they don't know or just be talking. Through another college buddy of mine I met a husband and wife that worked in corporate America for years. But took saved the money they made and opened up a charter school. In 8 years I watched that school go from 20 students to like 300 students. From where nothing in there was high tech to the whole school is high tech now.

There are a lot of black folks doing big things. Everyone ain't out her beating they chest and screaming to the world what they doing so kats don't know or assume the worst.

Also if black folks weren't doing these small businesses then jokers would be bytching that we let them go to foreigners or white folks.

Not to mention even in places like black wall Street or the south side of Chicago before integration. Blacks owned big businesses that employed a lot of folks and they also owned small mom and pop businesses that didn't employ but they family members. Both types of businesses are needed for the empowerment of black folks.

A lot of times our brothers and sisters think so big, but they sometimes forget that a big ass oak tree actually started out as a little bitty acorn.

In the USA most business are small or medium sized. That is all business, whether owned by White, Black, Hispanic or Asian people. Small and medium sized business do most of the hiring in the USA. That seems hard to believe, but that is the facts; small business alone hire double the number of people than large businesses.

Small Businesses Once Again Create More Jobs Than Big Businesses

IMO as Black people; we are failing in the creation of small businesses. nikka poo pooing on small businesses, but they don't seem to realize how many jobs those businesses create. And they don't realize how many other business that those business feed. Beauticians and barbers have to get their supplies somewhere. Why don't we have some young enterprising nikkas opening up a wholesale barber and beauty supply store. We don't do that, because some high and might nikkas don't see the benefits of doing that. Meanwhile some Asian dude will open up that shop and will sell supplies to Black beauticians and barbers. The Asians will hire Asian workers in his store and they will get rich of Black consumers, but high and mighty nikkas will then go around talking about how money is leaving the Black community.

So Black people own a car wash means that they need equipment and supplies. That is an opportunity for young Black person to be a wholesaler of those supplies. If nikkas can figure out how to sell bullshyt mixtapes and fukked up rap songs out of their trunks; why can't they figure out how to go and sell supplies out of their trunks to that Black car washes. So those brothas that own the car washes have no choice but to go to White stores to purchase their supplies, because some of our folks are too high and might to realize that car washes are business too and they hire guys in there to work.

Small businesses support other small business. We Black people have created a gap in the supply chains of small Black business, by looking down on the businesses created by our folks; rather than realizing that we are passing up business opportunities with our folks. I am not just a nikka writing this shyt on the internet neither. I lived it and I am still living it right now. I know a brotha that started with one beat up cab. Before the nikka retired he owned a whole cab company; that hired 3 dispatchers and about 30 drivers. About 20 years back; I helped him get a contract with the State of Illinois to drive disabled people to doctor's visits. The nikka got so much business that he ended up buy specialized vehicles to transport people for dialysis. He used to take his vehicles to a car wash owned by another brotha that we knew. That car wash had something like 20 people that worked there. I helped that brotha to organize his business better so that he could meet demand. That nikka had business out the door and most of it came from people that we went to Church with; but the sad part was that I couldn't even get my car washed on Saturday morning unless I was willing to wait in a long ass line. There was an opportunity in those two stories for young black business people to be in the supply chain, because our folks will buy from our folks because they came up on a hard hustle too. But some of our folks are too high and mighty to realize that small businesses are the engine that drive our community.

I'd rather be from Houston, D.C., Raleigh or Miami then Atlanta.

You know, actually interesting places
Lol at Raleigh being more interesting than Atlanta. I say that having family in North Carolina. Atlanta has a rich black history that goes back to the late 1800s. Atlanta has been a haven for blacks people for centuries this is nothing new.
