What happens if we get invaded? Or there is a Civil War?

What about if society collapses and you have to defend your family and food sources, as well as possibly hunt?

You're going to do it with a knife? You're going to be a coward and shuck and jive?

What happens if armed intruders enter your home, are you going to take the chance they are not there to harm you? You are going to wait on the police to save you and your family?

No thanks friend.

if all those things happen, you're gonna need a lot more than just a gun. the only one thats really plausible is the home invasion scenario...

Have you people been paying attention to the last fukking 12 years of guerrilla warfare being waged on the US abroad? Men with guns breh.

Trust me, I got a first hand glimpse of what men with guns can do.

If you have the will and backing of the population, knowledge of your terrain, good aim and courage, there is a lot a gun can do.

Go read up a bit on modern guerrilla warfare and uprisings.

:what:

you think because you've read some magazine called "guerilla warfare weekly" you have some sort of viable input on the topic of gun control while i don't?

Nah breh, I've been IN a position to understand guerrilla warfare first hand as in actually participated in firefights.

You can still have an opinion about gun control, I take issue with this bullshyt "what are guns or rifles going to do against...." bullshyt rhetoric on here by people who choose to ignore history and current affairs.

There is a lot an armed populace, rebels, or fights can do against a "superior" force.

well, i think you're confusing your experience in these areas with the topic at hand, we're talking about gun control, not military skirmishes. you brought up all those things that having nothing to do with the general population having access to guns as if there's some physical war already about to take place. hence why i said the only topic worth considering in your rant of "what if" is the topic of home invasion. so please stay in lane and on topic, friend, and stop giving your "flashbacks" of fighting "charlie" so much precedent over the real topic and issues at hand. when we go to war, we'll ask for your assistance...

Being a pacifist is fantastic until you encounter someone who isn't one.

This does NOT mean to be the aggressor, but self defense should be the right of an individual(s) to exercise, the trick to approach an utilitarian beneficial definition that is fair to all under the concepts of the social contract theory.

This goes to show you that you have no idea why people own guns. You see the bad incidents and jump up and down trying to give your rights away to "be safe".

That mentality gave us the PATRIOT Act, Japanese internments, TSA, Overzealous police forces, etc... How safe those things made us.

You think that the government is going to turn around and say "oh, here are your guns back" when you really need one?

I don't expect you to understand political history and the rise of the ideas behind the 2nd Amendment.

you must be joking, you really think because i don't want guns on the streets or because i want proper gun control that i want the tsa to frisk me at airports and overzealous policemen? your jumping from multiple points on different areas and it shows you're lacking proper logical deduction and trying to make points you don't have enough information on me to deduce. just because i feel guns should be controlled doesn't mean any of those things you're implying...

Both involve infringing on your rights.

What is proper gun control to you?

you're talking about different rights. just because they both infringe on your rights doesn't mean i'm a fan of rights being infringed. that's a big jump in logic to make...

as far as "proper" gun control, i can't say exactly what i want extensively, but i want something better than what's being offered. and to pretend as if this is the "best" system or way to go is foolish...

So you have no real ideas and simply reacting to your emotion based on a series of isolated events years apart?

What about France, UK, Norway, and Germany? They have MUCH stricter gun laws and do I need to remind you of what happened in those countries?

you do realize that at this day and age, if we are invaded and all the advanced weapons cant do shyt against invaders, the fukk is your handgun is gonna do against them ?

if theres a civil war...same thing pretty much. except government has ultimate weapons. the concept of civil war in america in todays day and age is kinda laughable anyway. any organized attempt at having a big coup will be sniffed out and suppressed fast. it will also be equated to terrorism.

civil wars, as you mightve noticed, happen pretty much only in largely underdeveloped countries nowadays that lack advanced weapons and a way to suppress guerrilla warfare.

Sir, can you tell me what is going on in Afghanistan and occurred in Iraq?

Did the enemy over there have any Helicopters, Artillery or any other advanced weaponry?

Iraq had advanced weaponry and their traditional army went down in 3 weeks. Meanwhile, the insurgent forces, armed with simple arms and improvised devices, fought for 9 years and killed a lot of people.

Did you and the others here forget about that?
