I liked Penny Dreadful but outside of season 3 I think that is a gigantic reach.

Not really. I dont think its even debateable that PD's cinematography, acting, directing and writing are leagues above AHS.
I dont even know what AHS is going for since the tone is so inconsistent.

Penny Dreadful is not a fair comparison at all...Season 1 & 2 of AHS is great TV for the average viewer and does what its supposed to do well...which is entertain.........Penny Dreadful was meant to be an artsy show right out of the gate with the heavy Victorian lean
