:ehh:I see, you’ve decided all of trumps support, and votes were from fascist and the thousand(s) who stormed the capital represent majority of the nation.

Ok, I can see how “we’re doomed” might ring true to you.

Far as I’m concerned those are fringe groups and in no way shape a form a representation of the vast majority of Americans.
:manny:Agree to disagree

I know your intentions are well meaning but you sound like a fool my brother. It doesn't matter what sentiments the majority of American hold, as long as those "fringe" elements have completely hijacked a political party. If it isn't evident now that the Republican party is completely in the hands of Trump, I'm not sure what more convincing you need.

Though I like Indi's channel, I don't always 100% agree with his takes but I believe he's completely spot on in the below video.

He points out indicators in the late 1910s and early 1920s that led to the rise of the Nazi party and Hitler that very much mirror what we've seen in the last 5 years. Many will say that America is fine and far from collapse but are we? I mean we're ok today and might be in a couple years but long term, are we "fine"?

If we look at the discourse and state of government today compared to 2016, look how much has changed and transpired in half a decade. A pandemic, a political party who is intentionally breaking democracy for their own political gain, a media apparatus in disarray, and social fatigue all culminating into a neatly packaged detonator waiting to be triggered by some chaotic or violent event.

The Biden administration might be the last chance we get to divert from this path.

Jeez breh. If you've ever considered pursuing a career as a motivational speaker or a substance abuse counselor....................don't.

He was speaking facts as far as I am concerned. Considering the amount of voter supression laws passed it isn't completely outside the realm of possibility.

If the Democrats bare minimum don't get in front of gerrymandering and partisan re-districting, we're going to be still talking about the filibuster in 2028 and 2032.

Brother, I have white family members. Most live in the south. They are "regular people" but they are ready to take up arms against evil heathen liberals at a moments notice. Ready to shoot liberals, illegal immigrants, BLM, and the enemies of Trump. They talk about it all the time. They are easily misled and riled up. Those are the same people who were there on 1/6. They are not rare.

Most of these salt of the Earth people think some pretty uneducated junk. They have no intellectual framework or theory grounded in any sort of reality. If Trump explicitly told his followers to overthrow all their state governments to overthrow the federal government we would have tons of terrorist attacks for years. Assassinations. Why do you think they took away his social media?

History shows it doesn't take that many people to destabilize a country or that many people to take it over. Look at the communist revolution in Russia or the start of WWI. There is a lot in common with what happened pre-Nazi Germany and our country, especially around those leaders and dissidents going to jail and then getting out and coming into power to lash out against the people who put them there. Of course, our situation is different, but it's also still potentially horrifying because of our power and firepower. You know, we have an obscene amount of guns, bombs, rockets, and nukes?

How many people in history thought they lived in some golden country and everything was safe only to have genocide, civil war, and strife come to obliterate them the next day? This is a cyclical reality.

Americans for some strange reason think they are at the end of history and free of consequence. We're not. If we let our limited ideologies delude us into thinking we are infinitely safe we will fall. I mean, this is at the least a very white perspective - black people have been living under fascist rule this whole time. They have been fukking us over this whole time. They are one step away from pointing that fascism at its own white citizens.

Fear mongering about Trump is not healthy. He's not the president anymore. Can we please move on? When he runs for office again then you should worry about him. Let's see if he is even healthy enough to continue 4 years from now.

No one is fear-mongering about Trump.:dwillhuh:

53% of Republicans believe Trump is the true president and was somehow cheated out of the Presidency, how exactly are you dismissing that as a some fringe group that will eventually disappear? :dwillhuh:

You have sitting congressional leaders who are still openly pushing the idea that the last election was stolen, how is that fringe?
25% of Americans identify as republican and 53% of them believe Trumps bullshyt...:ehh: Cool.
Trump isn’t coming back, nor is a fascist regime set to take the reigns.

:pachaha:IMO Fascist wouldnt have lost both houses of congress and the Oval Office... and made the butt of countless late-night jokes. You must be worried about soft ass, bytch made fascist.

Yet there are two political parties in this country, one of which happens to represent that open 25% as well as the quiet % who is too ashamed or embarrassed to admit their political association. That very party is actively breaking and impeding the standard democratic practice.

You all keep bringing up Trump but he's a lonely old man with mounting legal issues - this isn't about him. This is about the party he represents current behavior and the ramifications of that behavior.

Naziism was never supported by a majority of Germans.
That comparison(as always) is a reach...

If our system was in shambles they way Germany was, or if Trump(or any MAGA politician) was a quarter the orator Hitler was, we’d be in trouble. Alas, he’s busy dodging court cases, and a tax bill, while Dems control congress and the Oval Office.*cheers*
