Ok my point is there are MANY groups that would be considered CREOLE, but they usually spell it differently depending on their culture.I dont have a dog in this fight, but the french word créole came from the Portuguese word crioulo.
In her case it wouldve been more accurate to say she was crio or crioulo due to the fact she is speaking to an American audience!
Therefore it wouldnt be confused with Louisiana Creoles who are native to THIS country!
You proved my point.
I never said nor insinuated that she wasnt creole or that Louisana Creole are the only Creole people, just the same as if someone says theyre Black people with think theyre AA because we are the Native Black people in this country.

Haitians are west african from Benin (I've been told) . My grandpa from jeremie and grandma and moms from les cayes.

Creole just means you have French/Spanish blood as opposed to Anglo......there is literally nothing special about it
True and the reason why Louisiana lays claim to so many Creoles is because it was owned by the French and the Spanish at one time. Thanks to the revolt in Haiti France decided to sell Louisiana to the US. That dam haitian revolution really fukked France!

Well not everything.
I agree that Haitians have significant ancestry from the area of modern day Benin, but also there were other slaves taken to Haiti from different places other than Benin. But yeah my father side is from Haiti, but I forgot which part.
Also I heard Les Cayes was one of the wealthier areas. is that true?
