True and the reason why Louisiana lays claim to so many Creoles is because it was owned by the French and the Spanish at one time. Thanks to the revolt in Haiti France decided to sell Louisiana to the US. That dam haitian revolution really fukked France!

Ayiti Cheri!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indeed. I always argued this.

Really if not for Haiti, the USA as we know it may have never existed because the French would have still had a foothold in North America.

No it didn't. French and Portugese are Latin languages so they have similar words. Creole is a French word and applies to that subset, but mostly in America and parts of the Carribean. I have never heard it used in any other way. I think Rose is misrepresenting her family's reasons; just whom in her family attended and for what reasons (or not).

The English word creole derives from the French créole, which in turn came from Portuguese crioulo. This word, a derivative of the verb criar ("to raise"), was coined in the 15th century, in the trading and military outposts established by Portugal in West Africa. It originally referred to descendants of the Portuguese settlers who were born and raised overseas.
:manny:
Ok my point is there are MANY groups that would be considered CREOLE, but they usually spell it differently depending on their culture.
In her case it wouldve been more accurate to say she was crio or crioulo due to the fact she is speaking to an American audience!
Therefore it wouldnt be confused with Louisiana Creoles who are native to THIS country!
You proved my point.
I never said nor insinuated that she wasnt creole or that Louisana Creole are the only Creole people, just the same as if someone says theyre Black people with think theyre AA because we are the Native Black people in this country.

Creole is louisiana if your not lousiana creole you shouldnt be claiming it.
Krio kreyole are a few i know of but usually the spelling is different for different cultures.
:mindblown:

More than just Louisiana peeps spell it Creole, but im done with this convo, I dont really care enough to even finish this thou...:ahh:

I agree that Haitians have significant ancestry from the area of modern day Benin, but also there were other slaves taken to Haiti from different places other than Benin. But yeah my father side is from Haiti, but I forgot which part.

Also I heard Les Cayes was one of the wealthier areas. is that true?

I doubt it. Petionville is a wealthy suburb and is home to many multi racials. The irony shouldn't be lost on you. It was also the epicentre of the earthquake. Maybe they were all on holiday in France or Miami.

When Amber Rose said "I Do" to Wiz Khalifa, one important thing was missing. A majority of her family wasn't in attendance.
It certainly wasn't because they weren't invited or welcomed. Instead, the reason behind their absence may be because of their views on African Americans.
In a personal new interview for the Oprah Winfrey Network, the supermodel shared personal stories of colorism by her family that ultimately affected her special wedding day.
"With my family, they feel like they're more superior or better than an African American because we're Creole and we have culture and that's something I battle with most of my life," she explained in a sneak peek of Light Girls airing Monday night. "It's more of the older people in my family."
Rose goes on to infer that some of her family didn't attend her wedding because she married an African American. To this day, that reality still upsets her tremendously.
"It's such a sensitive subject that it's hard to explain yourself without sounding mean or bitter or angry, but I am,"
she shared. "I'm angry that my family is like that and they want to pass so bad that they raise my mom and my uncles and my aunts to not fully know their culture."
She added, "Our younger generation, we've embraced it so much and I feel like that's why my father is white."Hear more honest and candid confessions from Rose, Sheree Fletcher and other stars in Light Girls premiering Monday at 9 p.m. EST only on OWN.

Shout out to Cape Verde. @Mephistopheles @theworldismine13
